Anthropic has redesigned Claude Code Projects around a coordinator that can split one engineering goal into several parallel Claude Code sessions, review their work and assemble the result. The beta starts on 17 September for select Pro and Max subscribers using Claude Code cloud sessions.

Claude Code Projects can divide the work
The new Claude Code Projects workflow replaces the manual process of opening separate sessions, dividing tasks between them and stitching the outputs together. A developer describes the goal, and Claude decides how to break it into smaller jobs. Each worker runs on its own branch and repository copy, so overlapping changes still arrive as ordinary merge conflicts rather than disappearing into the machine room.
Anthropic describes the coordinator as a layer that scopes the request, delegates work, coordinates parallel threads, reviews the outputs and assembles the finished result. A project connected to API, web and mobile repositories could create one thread for each codebase, run tests and open pull requests before reporting which changes need to be merged.
This is a more structured version of the multi-session workflows developers already build around Claude Code. Tbreak previously covered how Claude Code’s design command can draft editable UI artboards, while Claude Docs and Slides brought editable work into one Claude.
Shared memory comes with a larger bill
The threads share project memory, allowing decisions and instructions to carry across work that continues over several days. Projects also gain a library for user files and Claude-created artefacts, so later threads can reuse the same material without asking the developer to paste it in again.
That convenience is tied to a fairly direct trade-off. Anthropic says each thread counts as a full Claude Code session, meaning parallel work can reach plan limits sooner. Users can track project-specific usage and choose the model and effort level for the coordinator and worker threads. The feature is therefore less “free extra developers” and more “several developers sharing one meter”.
Anthropic says local execution alongside a developer’s tools, code and private-network resources is coming soon. Mobile support is also planned, while updated Projects will expand to more Pro and Max users before reaching Team and Enterprise plans. Existing Projects remain on the current version until Anthropic upgrades them. For teams already using Claude Code Projects, the redesign changes who handles the handoffs rather than removing the need to review the code.
The launch follows Anthropic’s official announcement and was also reported by The New Stack.
What is the Claude Code Projects redesign?
It adds a coordinator that breaks an engineering goal into parallel Claude Code sessions, reviews their outputs and assembles the result.
Do Claude Code Projects share context between threads?
Yes. Threads can contribute to and draw from shared project memory, while a project library stores user files and Claude-created artefacts.
Will parallel Claude Code threads use more of my plan?
Yes. Anthropic says each thread is a full Claude Code session, so running several at once can reach usage limits sooner.
