Marvel has assembled much of the Avengers: Doomsday cast for a short cinema advert telling audiences to silence their phones. The promo is playing before Avengers: Endgame Encore screenings this week, according to IGN, giving Marvel one more bit of cast spectacle before the multiverse does its scheduled collapsing.
Avengers Doomsday cast turns a phone ring into the threat
The advert gathers characters from the Avengers, New Avengers, X-Men and Fantastic Four as they settle in to watch a film. A phone then rings, prompting Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova to demand silence. The skit does not appear to reveal story footage or new plot information; its job is considerably simpler.
The line-up includes Channing Tatum as Gambit, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, James Marsden as Cyclops, Pedro Pascal as Mr Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Anthony Mackie as Captain America. David Harbour, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen, Rebecca Romijn and Tenoch Huerta Mejía also appear, according to IGN.
Robert Downey Jr. is not part of the advert, despite being listed among Marvel’s announced cast for the film. Marvel’s official page also lists Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Kelsey Grammer and several other returning X-Men names, with Avengers: Doomsday set for 18 December 2026.
What the advert says about Avengers: Doomsday
The short film is a promotional extra rather than an Avengers Doomsday trailer. It does, however, put a sizeable portion of the announced ensemble in one piece of footage, including characters from groups that Marvel has previously kept in separate corners of its cinematic universe.
That makes the advert a useful cast roll-call, but not evidence that every character listed will have a major role in the finished film. Marvel’s official synopsis only says that heroes from three distinct universes are headed for a collision with an existential threat.
