Apple Watch Series 12 may bring always-on heart-rate tracking and a redesigned Fitness and Health app, according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, giving Apple’s next smartwatch a more continuous view of health data. The rumour covers the standard watch and Apple Watch Ultra 4, with the usual caveat that Apple’s plans can change before launch.

Apple Watch Series 12 health tracking could become more continuous
The reported heart-rate change would allow the sensor to record throughout the day rather than relying mainly on workouts and occasional readings. That would give the Health app more data to work with, although the report does not say how often the watch would sample or whether the feature would affect battery life.
Gurman also reports that Apple is revamping its Fitness and Health software to show more wellness metrics, in a format closer to the data dashboards used by Whoop and Oura. The aim appears to be a clearer view of sleep, recovery and other health trends instead of leaving users to interpret separate measurements themselves.
Apple is also working on revamping its fitness and health app software to show more wellness-related metrics in a similar fashion to increasingly popular app offerings from Whoop and Oura.

Ceramic finishes are reportedly in testing
Apple is also said to be testing a ceramic case in white and dark grey, alongside new band colours and configurations. The ceramic option has appeared in earlier reports, but Apple has not confirmed the material or the finishes.
MacRumors separately reported that Apple Watch models coming this year will receive fitness-tracking upgrades, while describing the wider changes as minor. A larger physical redesign is reportedly being considered for the Series 13 or Series 14, rather than this year’s watch.
