Adobe has put AI generation closer to the edit itself. Its new Adobe Generative Media workspace in Premiere lets editors generate video, sound effects, music and soundscapes from gaps in the timeline, without switching to another app.
The feature is described in The Verge’s report, which says editors can highlight an empty space on a video or audio track and create context-aware clips that remain editable. The available models include Adobe Firefly, Google Veo, Runway, Luma and Kling.

What Adobe Generative Media adds to Premiere
The workspace is designed for the missing pieces that appear during an edit: a cutaway, a sound effect, background music or a longer piece of atmosphere. Editors can choose the model from inside the timeline rather than exporting the problem to a separate browser tab and returning with a file of uncertain ancestry.
Adobe is also adding beta audio tools that can separate overlapping speakers, lower music under dialogue and adjust speech and ambience independently. The company announced a broader Firefly push in its April newsroom release, which described Firefly as a single interface for working across Adobe apps and more than 30 creative AI models.
Premiere Pro AI could suit agency workflows
For agencies and production teams in the UAE, the use is faster filler content during an edit: temporary B-roll, transitions, sound design and music beds can be generated where the gap appears. The editor still decides if the generated material is good enough, legally usable and consistent with the client’s brief. AI has not yet acquired taste, which is probably why Adobe left the timeline editable.
Adobe’s AI Assistant is also coming to After Effects in beta. It will accept plain-language commands to reorganise projects, fix technical problems and create effects without requiring expressions.
Adobe Generative Media is now part of the expanding list of AI tools aimed at keeping editors inside their primary applications. Adobe has covered adjacent creative AI tools in its earlier Slack integration and its report on Claude in creative apps. The workflow is less about one model winning and more about giving editors a set of generators without making them rebuild the project around each one.
