Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced sold two million copies in its first 24 hours after launching on 9 July 2026 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, but early players are already complaining about its microtransactions. In the UAE, the PS5 version lists at AED 249 on Amazon.ae and ZGames, Dhs. 269 at GamesPlanet.ae, and 229 AED on Steam.

  • Ubisoft reported two million day-one sales, a #1 Twitch spot on launch day, and a Steam peak of 99,451 concurrent players — a series high.
  • Critics were sold: IGN gave it 9/10, OpenCritic sits at 85% and Metacritic at 84%, its best score since the original Black Flag.
  • The friction is not the game itself but its monetisation, with disappointment surfacing on Steam reviews and social media over the game’s microtransactions.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced had a genuinely enormous opening. Ubisoft announced two million copies sold in the first 24 hours after the remake’s 9 July 2026 launch on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It topped Twitch on launch day and hit a peak of 99,451 concurrent players on Steam, which Ubisoft says is the highest concurrent count for any Assassin’s Creed game on the platform. Then players opened the storefront, and the mood soured.

Why is Ubisoft even sharing a sales number?

Because it clearly wanted to. Ubisoft almost never publishes hard unit figures this early, which is what makes the two-million shout notable. When Valhalla launched in 2020 the company simply said it had the biggest launch week in series history. Mirage in 2023 was described as landing “in line with Origins and Odyssey.” Even Shadows, the March 2025 entry that topped the month’s charts and hit three million players in its first week, was framed around player counts rather than sales, helped along by Ubisoft+ subscribers. Putting a firm number on Black Flag Resynced is a company confident in what its first real remake in the series has done. “Seeing two million players set sail on day one, along with the great reviews from critics, is the greatest reward we could have hoped for,” said Assassin’s Creed brand head Martin Schelling.

So what are fans actually angry about?

The complaints are aimed squarely at the microtransactions, not the actual game. Within a day of launch, players took to Steam reviews and social media to voice disappointment with the monetisation, and IGN’s Daily Fix flagged that the game’s “pricy microtransactions have fans outraged.” That is the interesting tension here. The sales, the concurrency and the critic scores all point to a beloved remake landing exactly as hoped, yet the loudest early conversation is about paid content bolted onto a full-price release.

Recent mainline entries — Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla, Mirage and Shadows — have all carried optional paid extras, and players have largely tolerated them. The backlash suggests Resynced has pushed the volume or pricing close to the community’s limit, particularly on PC. None of this dents the sales figure, and it is unlikely to change Ubisoft’s course when the numbers look this healthy. But it is a clear signal that goodwill for a nostalgic remake and patience for aggressive monetisation are two very different things.

How much does Black Flag Resynced cost in the UAE?

UAE buyers have several confirmed options across platforms. On the PlayStation Store, the Standard Edition lists at $59.99 (approximately AED 220) and the Deluxe Edition at $69.99 (approximately AED 257), according to Khaleej Times. For the PC version, Steam’s regional pricing shows 229 AED for the UAE.
