Ask Music works across YouTube Music’s catalogue of more than 300 million songs, including studio recordings, remixes, live performances, covers and DJ sets. Users can ask for a mix, discover artists, build a playlist or find out who played on a track. The tool can also customise the queue and provide background on an artist’s music.
TechCrunch reports that the feature is designed for everyday-language prompts rather than conventional keyword searches. The Gemini spark icon will sit in the top-right corner of the mobile app, while Ask Music can also appear during playlist and mix editing, according to 9to5Google’s report.

Your Podcast Lineup will appear on YouTube Music’s podcast page and provide a short, AI-generated audio preview of recommended shows. It will explain why each programme might suit the listener before moving into suggested episodes. YouTube describes it as hands-free and “eyes-optional”, which is useful when the phone is somewhere inconvenient and the queue is doing the driving.
The move follows Google’s wider push to put AI inside everyday services, including Gemini’s Daily Brief and Lyria 3.5’s music generation tools.
