Samsung’s first over-ear headphones in more than a decade may be called the Galaxy Studio. The name comes from a leak and a pending trademark filing, and Samsung hasn’t confirmed either.

The leak comes from Android developer @evowizz, who posted on 8 October that they “can’t wait to see Galaxy Studio”, with a headphone emoji.

Digital Trends reports that Samsung filed a US trademark application for GALAXY STUDIO on 14 September, covering headphones, headsets and earbuds. The application is pending, and a filing doesn’t guarantee Samsung will use the name. TechRadar adds that Samsung also held the name a decade ago and re-filed it in mid-September.

What’s already known

The Galaxy Studio is not a new rumour. In August, SamMobile found references to an over-ear model in Samsung’s Galaxy Wearable app, internally called the Galaxy H1. As The Verge reported then, the app’s assets showed a conventional full-size Bluetooth headphone design, and SamMobile suggested a 2027 launch.

A later APK teardown by SammyGuru reportedly found the model number SM-U700. Strings in the code point to noise controls, touch gestures, Conversation mode, head tracking, automatic power-off settings and USB connection behaviour. None of that is confirmed, and there’s no word on price, features or release date. TechRadar notes some fans hope for a 2027 launch alongside devices such as the Galaxy S27, but that’s speculation.

Why a Samsung over-ear is a big gap to fill

Samsung’s last premium over-ear headphones under its own name were the Level On Wireless Pro, announced in August 2015 with active noise cancellation and touch controls. Since then, its audio line has been earbuds, including the Galaxy Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro. Any Galaxy Studio would target rivals such as Apple’s AirPods Max and Sony’s WH-1000XM series.

Samsung also owns plenty of audio expertise. It announced its Harman International purchase in November 2016, bringing in AKG, JBL, Harman Kardon and Mark Levinson. Harman’s 2025 acquisition of Sound United added Bowers & Wilkins, Denon, Marantz, Polk Audio and Definitive Technology.

How much of that heritage reaches the Galaxy Studio is unknown. TechRadar’s view is that it won’t be the AKG revival audiophiles have asked for, since a Galaxy-branded set would likely be built for the Samsung ecosystem rather than for critical listening. Whether Harman engineers tune it is also unconfirmed.

For now, Samsung’s phone ecosystem is the likelier fit. If you’re weighing a Galaxy-friendly pair today, our coverage of Samsung’s SmartThings app update and the Technics EAH-A1000 launch shows where the competition stands.

Has Samsung confirmed the Galaxy Studio?

No. The name rests on a leaker’s post and a pending US trademark application, and Samsung hasn’t announced any over-ear headphones.

When could the Galaxy Studio launch?

There’s no official date. SamMobile’s August report pointed to 2027, and nothing since has firmed that up.

Is this the same product as the Galaxy H1?

Possibly. The Galaxy H1 is the internal name found in Samsung’s app code, and reports now link the over-ear model to the Galaxy Studio name, but Samsung hasn’t said they’re the same.
