Google has launched the Gemini Windows app, giving users a native desktop client for Gemini on Windows 10 and Windows 11. The app is available globally from 10 September and can be downloaded from Google’s official Gemini desktop page.

Gemini Windows app opens with Alt + Space
Pressing Alt + Space opens Gemini over the active Windows application. Google’s examples include checking a document, drafting text and generating ideas for a presentation, so users can get help without switching to a browser tab.
The Gemini Windows app follows Google’s Gemini desktop app for macOS, which launched in April. Google describes the new app as lightweight and says more native desktop capabilities will roll out over time.
Gemini Spark comes along for the ride
The Gemini Windows app can work with Google’s connected apps, including Gmail and Google Drive. It also includes Gemini Spark for more complex, multi-step tasks, along with image and video generation through Google’s Gemini tools.
9to5Google reports that the app uses a side panel for Notebooks and Recents, while Engadget notes that Google is positioning it as a quiet desktop utility rather than another large application demanding attention.
The app is available globally for Windows 10 and Windows 11 PCs. Google has not announced a separate UAE price or regional restriction for the Windows client, and the download is available through the same desktop page.
