Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2

Each will have its own unique move set and new cinematic supers, while the game will bring gameplay and visual improvements along with a new single-player campaign.

Pikmin 4 and its little critters offer another colourful world to explore, new creatures to befriend, and more frantic Dandori Battles to face.

Oxenfree II: Lost Signals

Genre: Horror | Release Date: July 12, 2023

If you have never heard of Oxenfree, do yourself a favour and get the original as soon as possible. It’s a peculiar horror game mixed with a coming-of-age saga and easily one of the genre’s finest.

With the sequel, Night School Studios, with the backing of Netflix Games, looks to offer a polished narrative experience, with choice-based gameplay, dynamic conversations, and environmental puzzles seeped in stunning artwork.

Diablo 4

Genre: Action RPG | Release Date: June, 2023

Blizzard’s latest entry into its nearly thirty-year-old franchise invites you back to Hell for an endless slaughter of evil demons, countless abilities to master, and massive dungeons to loot and conquer.

According to reviews, there is not much to the story, although it seems like it’s a marked improvement from Diablo 3 (which isn’t saying much). That said, while the game doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel, the improvements to the combat, looting and visuals still make for a fresh take on the iconic franchise. You can read our review round-up here.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Genre: JRPG | Release Date: May 12, 2023

Oh boy. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was a genre-defining game in its own right and was highly praised by critics and fans alike, making it a modern-day classic. To follow up with a sequel is a tall order, but this is Nintendo we are talking about. They hardly miss.

Tears of the Kingdom looks to expand upon the world and tools created in Breath of the Wild and offer players another riveting adventure through Hyrule. One of the major new developments in the game is the appearance of floating islands all over the world, and these vary from small platforms to giant land masses full of enemies and different environments. Add to that the new puzzles to complete, new weapons, movement mechanics, and more. Tears of the Kingdom promises to deliver in a big way.

Minecraft Legends

Genre: JRPG | Release Date: March 23, 2023

Minecraft remains as popular as ever, and Microsoft is wise enough to keep releasing new updates and game modes to keep the game ticking along nicely.

Minecraft Legends is a brand new game where the piglins’ Nether corruption is spreading across the Overworld. And it seems only you – the player – can stop it. Players can explore lush biomes filled with precarious dangers but also rewarding treasures, meet new friends, reunite with old ones, and take on the piglins in an epic battle.

Hogwarts Legacy

Genre: Act-Adv | Release Date: April 4, 2023

Smashing all expectations, Hogwarts Legacy became one of the biggest game releases of this year, far surpassing even Elden Rings in sales in the first few months. The game is finally being released for old-gen consoles on the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

But, we would be remiss not to throw up a buyers’ beware warning: the game was delayed for a reason, and that’s because when it was released for PC and next-gen consoles back in February, it was a hot mess and extremely unoptimized. We hope Avalanche Studios has optimized it well enough to run on older hardware, but we wouldn’t place our bets just yet before watching some performance analysis.

Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania

Genre: Rougelike | Release Date: March 6, 2023

Return to Castlevania is the latest expansion to Motion Twin’s incredibly good and you-must-play roguelike action RPG, Dead Cells.

This time around, the game is venturing into the gothic world of Castlevania with a brand new storyline, new outfits, three new bosses, 14 new weapons, new enemies, and a cool visual aesthetic.
