Dubai South Business Hub Free Zone (DSBH) has signed a partnership with Sony Middle East and Africa that gives its resident companies access to Sony imaging and audio technology on preferential terms, alongside a programme of workshops and masterclasses. The agreement was signed on 5 August at Dubai South Headquarters by Saif Al-Ali, DSBH’s Director of Licensing and Free Zone Management, and Jobin Joejoe, Managing Director of Sony Middle East and Africa.
What DSBH businesses get
Under the agreement, companies in the free zone receive exclusive Sony benefits and offers, plus sessions on content creation, digital marketing, brand building and business growth, delivered by Sony specialists at DSBH. Sony joins as a technology partner rather than a vendor: the pitch is equipment and the instruction to go with it.
For early-stage businesses, the argument runs, credible content and a clear brand shape how customers find a company and how investors assess it. The free zone now supplies both the tools and the tuition.
“This partnership with Sony reinforces our commitment to creating an enabling environment where founders have access to the technology and knowledge that help their businesses grow. Our role extends well beyond company formation.”
— Saif Al-Ali, Director of Licensing and Free Zone Management, Dubai South Business Hub Free Zone
“Through our partnership with Dubai South Business Hub Free Zone, we aim to give founders access not only to Sony’s imaging solutions, but also to the expertise needed to use them with purpose.”
— Jobin Joejoe, Managing Director, Sony Middle East and Africa
Free zones competing on services
DSBH is the founder-first free zone within Dubai South, the district built around Al Maktoum International Airport, Jebel Ali Port and Etihad Rail. Sony Middle East and Africa, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Corporation, runs consumer electronics, professional products and PlayStation business across more than 40 countries from Jebel Ali.
The partnership is the latest sign of Dubai free zones competing on services rather than licence fees alone. Dubai Holding’s AED 850,000 accelerator prize and Hub71’s UAE–India tie-up run the same playbook: formation is the table stakes, the support around it is the pitch. For founders, the free-value perks keep stacking up. DSBH says details of benefits, workshop schedules and registration will be shared with its community in the coming weeks.
