Slackforce Surfaces lets teams build dashboards inside Slack

Slack is adding a way to build dashboards, reports and other interactive tools inside a chat: Slackforce Surfaces lets users describe what they need and have Slackbot assemble it from permitted workspace data.

Slackforce Surfaces can create interactive reports, polls, dashboards, presentations and microsites from a plain-language request. The result stays in Slack, where it can be shared with colleagues, pinned to a channel, explored and commented on rather than exported to another tool.

Slack says Surfaces can draw from relevant conversations and connected apps, including Salesforce and Google Drive. Access follows the permissions already granted to Slack’s AI tools, so the feature is not a new route around workspace access controls.

In one example, Slackbot creates an arcade-themed visualisation of AI token usage across sales, design and engineering. Other examples include a customer-support queue and a financial forecast built from connected data.

When will Slackforce Surfaces use live data?

Slackforce Surfaces is available to customers with Slackbot enabled, including free-tier workspaces. Live-data support is due in October 2026, allowing dashboards to refresh as the underlying information changes rather than remaining a snapshot of the moment they were created.

That puts the feature closer to a lightweight business-intelligence tool than a formatted summary. Teams can work from the same view inside the channel, although the usefulness of any Surface will still depend on the quality and permissions of the data connected to Slack.

The launch follows Slack’s wider push to make Slackbot an assistant that can search across channels, summarise messages and work with connected services. Salesforce is positioning Slackforce Surfaces as part of its broader Slackforce strategy for bringing Salesforce data into the flow of work.

Slack introduced Slackforce Surfaces in its Salesforce announcement, while The Verge reports on the feature’s availability and October live-data plan. For businesses in the UAE, the feature’s availability is tied to the Slack plan and workspace settings rather than a separate UAE launch, so local teams will need to check whether Slackbot and their connected apps are enabled in their organisation.

Microsoft has also been moving towards live dashboards inside workplace software with Copilot Canvas and Excel. Slackforce Surfaces puts the same general idea inside the conversation itself.
