Nintendo has officially announced the Zelda 40th anniversary Switch 2 console and Pro Controller after images of both products leaked last month. The limited-edition hardware will be available from 29 October, according to Video Games Chronicle.

The announcement confirms the main details from the leak while separating the hardware from Nintendo’s upcoming Ocarina of Time remake. The products celebrate 40 years of The Legend of Zelda itself, rather than marking the remake as a special edition.

Zelda 40th anniversary Switch 2 hardware is official

The console has a Triforce design on its dock and matching Triforce details on the Joy-Con controllers. The Switch 2 system is joined by a Zelda-themed Pro Controller with a gold-and-black faceplate, green and black handles and additional series artwork.

Nintendo will also sell a special version of the controller with a display stand. That version will be exclusive to Nintendo stores. The standard controller and console will be available from 29 October, although Nintendo has not announced pricing in the cited announcement.

The original The Legend of Zelda launched in Japan in February 1986. The 2026 anniversary therefore lands alongside a year that also includes Nintendo’s Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2, which was announced during the June Nintendo Direct.

The new announcement follows the earlier Zelda 40th anniversary Switch 2 leak, which showed packaging for the same console and controller before Nintendo confirmed them. Nintendo’s official Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct page confirms the anniversary presentation and provides the official context for the hardware announcement. UAE pricing and availability have not been announced.

Nintendo has not yet published a UAE price for either product, so local buyers will need to wait for regional retailer listings. The Triforce, meanwhile, has secured another place on Nintendo hardware. It has had a busy 40 years.
