Xiaomi MIX Fold 5 leaks in live photos running HyperOS 4 — and it’s staying in China

Live photos of the Xiaomi MIX Fold 5 show it running HyperOS 4 on Android 17 — the first real-world look at Xiaomi's next foldable. It's expected in August, but it's staying in China.

Live photos of the Xiaomi MIX Fold 5 show a working unit running HyperOS 4 on Android 17 — the first real-world look at both the foldable and the OS generation it is expected to launch. The images surfaced via Weibo tipster Panda is Bald and were picked up by Gizchina and GSM Arena.

The giveaway is the software page: the “lhasa” codename has appeared in the MIX Fold 5’s certification filings and ROM entries since mid-2026, and seeing it on a live device rules out renders and mock-ups. The version string starts at 4.0, with Android 17 as the base platform — the same foundation as Samsung’s One UI 9 and OnePlus’s OxygenOS 16. HyperOS 4 is expected to centre on deeper AI integration, expanded cross-device workflows and a translucent, glass-influenced visual refresh.

What the leaks say about the hardware

Earlier reports from Digital Chat Station point to a 7.5–7.6in book-style display with reduced crease, a 200MP Samsung S5KHP5 main camera — the same sensor class that powered the Xiaomi 17 Ultra — and a 6,000mAh battery with wireless charging. Under the hood sits Xiaomi’s XRING O3 chip, which breaks the 4GHz barrier at 4.05GHz and replaces the traditional big core with a three-cluster layout.

August launch, but China first

The model number 2608BPX34C carries a date code pointing to August 2026, and Xiaomi Day falls on 8 August. The “C” suffix, along with the XRING O3’s lack of global 5G bands, points to a China-only release — the same route the MIX Fold 4 took. Leaks put the price at roughly CNY 10,000 (about USD 1,380, or AED 5,100), 10 per cent above the MIX Fold 4’s launch figure.

What it means if you’re shopping in the UAE

The MIX Fold series has never had an official UAE launch, and nothing in these photos changes that. HyperOS 4 will still reach the Xiaomi phones sold here — the 17T series among them — once the rollout widens. The foldable itself would only be reachable through grey-market imports, with the usual caveats on network bands and warranty.

Will the Xiaomi MIX Fold 5 launch in the UAE?

No official release is expected. The model number’s ‘C’ suffix and the XRING O3’s lack of global 5G bands point to a China-only launch, like the MIX Fold 4 before it. The only route into the UAE would be grey-market imports, with the usual caveats on network bands and warranty.

What is HyperOS 4?

HyperOS 4 is Xiaomi’s next operating system generation, based on Android 17 — the same platform as Samsung’s One UI 9 and OnePlus’s OxygenOS 16. It is expected to focus on deeper AI integration, cross-device workflows and a translucent, glass-influenced design. The MIX Fold 5 is tipped to be the first phone to ship it.

How much will the Xiaomi MIX Fold 5 cost?

Leaks point to roughly CNY 10,000 (about USD 1,380, or AED 5,100) — around 10 per cent above the MIX Fold 4’s launch price. Nothing is official until Xiaomi announces it, expected around August 2026.
