Zack Snyder’s account of the Warner Bros. conversation comes from a new Variety interview about his latest film, The Last Photograph. The unnamed executive, who has since left Warner Bros., allegedly told Snyder: “You were right about everything.” Snyder said the executive also admitted, “We were fighting you, and in the end you were right.” IGN reported the interview details.

Snyder said the dispute covered his wider Zack Snyder DC Universe plans and his filmmaking style, rather than one isolated decision. He also acknowledged why Warner Bros. executives might have tried to protect a valuable franchise, while saying the studio used his departure from Justice League as an opportunity to take control of the film.
Warner Bros. brought Joss Whedon in after Snyder stepped away during post-production following the death of his daughter, Autumn. The theatrical cut changed the tone, structure and length of the film. Snyder told IGN he has never watched that version, describing its release as a “low point” because his name remained on a film he said he did not make.

Snyder eventually completed his version of Justice League, released on HBO Max in 2021 after years of fan campaigning. The four-hour cut restored much of his intended structure and material, but Warner Bros. later moved on from that continuity under DC Studios.
