Valor Mortis Delayed to October as September’s Game Release Calendar Gets Crowded

Developer One More Level has delayed Valor Mortis from September 24 to October 13, 2026, moving the first-person Soulslike out of an increasingly busy September release window.

The game, which comes from the studio behind the Ghostrunner series, will launch PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam. Publisher Lyrical Games and One More Level announced the revised date only days after the game appeared during the Xbox Games Showcase.

Valor Mortis Is Moving Away From a Packed September

One More Level explained that the original date had been locked in weeks before the showcase, but September has since become crowded with major game releases.

"We want to give Valor Mortis (and your wallet) some room to breathe," the studio said in its announcement.

The extra three weeks will also give the developer more time to refine the game using feedback from its recently released Steam demo. The demo has been available on PC since June 7 and can be downloaded through Steam.

Valor Mortis was previously scheduled to arrive on the same day as Silent Hill: Townfall and Control Resonant, with Onimusha: Way of the Sword following one day later. Several other games are also currently expected to launch throughout September.

Valor Mortis is a single-player first-person action Soulslike set in an alternate version of 19th-century Europe. Players take on the role of Willaim, a former solider in Napoleon's army who rises from the dead after a mysterious plague spreads across the continent.

The game combines melee and ranged weapons wiith supernatural abilities, while its levels take inspiration from the Metroidvania genre. Players will explore a war-torn world, battle monsters and uncover the conspiracy behind Willaim's resurrection.
