The Biggest Games Releasing in April 2026 You Need to Know About

April 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most stacked months in recent gaming memory. Between long-awaited and new IPs, console ports of critically acclaimed titles, massive DLC expansions, and a few wild cards that could surprise everyone, there is genuinely something here for every type of player. Whether you are deep into roguelikes, RPGs, shooters, or fighting games, clearing out some hard drive space in advance would not be the worst idea. Here is everything worth paying attention to this month.

Starfield: Free Lanes Update + Terran Armada DLC

Release Date: Tuesday, April 7
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC

This is a big one. Starfield finally makes its way to PlayStation 5, and it is not arriving empty-handed. Alongside the PS5 launch, Bethesda is rolling out Free Lanes, the game's largest free update since launch, and a brand-new paid story expansion called Terran Armada. The Free Lanes update overhauls space travel with a proper Cruise Mode that lets you fly between planets in the same star system without constant loading screens. On top of that, it brings new points of interest, a New Game Plus mode that actually lets you carry items through, a new legendary weapon ranks, and a new land vehicle called the Moon Jumper. Terran Armada adds a new faction threatening to unify the Settled System by force, complete with robotic armies, new ships, and a companion character. If you bounced off Starfield at launch, this might be the version worth revisting.

Pokémon Champions

Release Date: Wednesday, April 8
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 (Mobile later in 2026)

Pokemon Champions takes a different approach to what you might expect from a Pokemon game. This is a dedicated online battle game, focused entirely on competitive PvP with no exploration or adventure elements. You build your team by transferring Pokemon through Pokemon HOME or by recruiting them in-game, then jump into Ranked, Casual, or Private Battles. The game is free-to-start with an optional Starter Pack that adds storage space and some extras. What makes this interesting is that it will serve as the official platform for Pokemon VGC battles at the 2026 World Championships. It also introduces new Mega Evolutions with entirely new abilities, including Mega Meganium, Mega Emboar, and Mega Feraligatr. If competitive batting is your thing, this is built from the ground up for you.

Hades II (Console Release)

Release Date: Tuesday, April 14
Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PS5

One of the best-reviewed games of 2025 is finally expanding beyond PC and Nintendo platforms. Hades II arrives on PS5 and Xbox with 120fps support on both consoles and includes every post-launch patch that has shipped since the game's September 2025 launch. Supergiant Games is also releasing a same-day update with bonus content and quality-of-life improvements for all platforms, including what appears to be a new scene featuring Heracles at the hot springs. If you have been holding out for a console version, this is the definitive way to experience Melinoë's journey through the Underworld. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.

Replaced

Release Date: Tuesday, April 14
Platforms: PC (Steam, Epic, GOG), Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One

Replaced has been on radars since its E3 2021 reveal, and after multiple delays partly caused by Russo-Ukrainian War forcing developers Sad Cat Studios to relocate from Belarus to Cyprus, it is finally arriving. This is a 2.5D sci-fi action platformer set in a dystopian alternate 1980s America. You play as R.E.A.C.H, an AI trapped inside a human body against its will, navigating the neon-drenched streets of Phoenix-City. The combat uses a free-flow system with dodge and parry indicators, and the pixel art visuals are genuinely stunning with modern dynamic lighting layered on top. The game will also be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch.

Atomic Heart: Blood on Crystal DLC

Release Date: Wednesday, April 16
Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC

The fourth and final DLC for Atomic Heart wraps up the Facility 3826 saga. Blood on Crystal picks up after CHAR-les' betrayal and sends P-3 and the Twins deep into the classified Crystal Complex for one last confrontation. The expansion introduces Polymorphs, a new enemy type that can shift between elemental forms, which forces you to constant switch up your approach in combat. If you have followed the DLC storyline through Trapped in Limbo and Enchantment Under the Sea, this is the conclusion you have been waiting for. Worth noting that Mundfish has already announced both an MMORPG spinoff called The CUBE and Atomic Heart 2, so this is the end of a chapter rather than the entire story.

Mouse: P.I. For Hire

Release Date: Thursday, April 16
Platforms: PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Switch, PS4, Xbox One at a later date)

Take the rubber-hose animation style of 1930s cartoons, give it a noir detective story, and drop it into a first-person shooter. That is Mouse: P.I. For Hire in a nutshell, and it looks fantastic. You play as Jack Pepper, a hardboiled mouse private investigator voiced by Troy Baker, investigating corruption and murder in the city of Mouseburg. The game blends investigative sections where you find clues and solve puzzles with full-on FPS combat using an absurd arsenal of cartoon weapons. There is a shotgun, sure, but there is also a turpentine gun that literally erases enemies from existence. The soundtrack is original big band jazz, and developer Fumi Games even collaborated with electro swing band Caravan Palace for an exclusive in-game track. This is one of those games that could fly under the radar but absolutely deserves attention.

Pragmata

Release Date: Thursday, April 17
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, PC

Capcom's newest IP has been in development since its 2020 announcement, and after several delays, it has gone gold and is locked in for April 17 — actually moved up a full week from its original April 24 date after positive demo feedback. Pragmata is a sci-fi action adventure set on a lunar research station where spacefarer Hugh and his android companion Diana must work together to fight hostile AI and find a way back to Earth. The gameplay has you controlling both characters simultaneously, with Hugh handling firearms and a jetpack while Diana hacks into enemy defense systems. It is built on Capcom's RE Engine with full ray tracing support and path tracing on PC. The PS5 Pro version runs at 4K/60fps. Given Capcom's recent track record with Monster Hunter, Resident Evil, and Dragon's Dogma 2, expectations are high.

Masters of Albion

Release Date: Wednesday, April 22
Platforms: PC (Steam Early Access)

Peter Molyneux's final game. Whether that statement fills you with excitement or skepticism probably depends on how closely you have followed his career post-Lionhead. Masters of Albion is a god game in the tradition of Populous, Black & White, and Dungeon Keeper, blending town management, real-time strategy, and the ability to possess individual characters for third-person exploration and combat. During the day, you build and customize villages from the ground up using a floating god hand. At night, undead creatures emerge and you have to defend what you have built. The development team includes veterans from Dungeon Keeper, Black & White, and Fable, and Marc Silk, the iconic voice from those games, narrates the experience. Molyneux has been candid about this being his redemption after the Godus debacle, and the extended gameplay footage looks promising. It is launching in Early Access, so temper expectations accordingly, but the foundation appears solid.

Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred

Release Date: Tuesday, April 28
Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC

The second major expansion for Diablo IV closes out the Age of Hatred saga with a direct confrontation against Mephisto, the Prime Evil of Hatred. Lord of Hatred opens up the new region of Skovos, the ancient birthplace of the first civilization in Sanctuary, and introduces two new playable classes: the Paladin, which is available right now for anyone who pre-purchases, and the Warlock, which arrives with the expansion itself. Beyond the new story content, Blizzard is overhauling skill trees with class-specific variants across all eight classes, raising the level cap, introducing War Plans for endgame progression, reworking crafting with the return of the Horadric Cube, adding a loot filter, and, surprisingly, fishing. The expansion also includes full access to last year's Vessel of Hatred if you missed it. This is a massive content drop by any measure.

Invincible VS

Release Date: Thursday, April 30
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC

A 3v3 tag fighting game set in the Invincible universe, developed by Quarter Up — a studio made up of key developers behind 2013's Killer Instinct. The game features an 18-character launch roster including Invincible, Omni-Man, Atom Eve, Battle Beast, and Conquest, with voice actors from the animated series reprising their roles (Steven Yeun as Invincible, J.K. Simmons as Omni-Man). The combat draws comparisons to Marvel vs. Capcom and Dragon Ball FighterZ, with tag mechanics, motion inputs, and a content creator mode that strips out gore for streaming. An open beta ran from April 9 to 11, so many players will already have a feel for the game by launch. First DLC characters, Universa and The Immortal, are planned for Summer 2026.

Saros

Release Date: Thursday, April 30
Platforms: PS5

Housemarque's follow-up to Returnal is a PS5 exclusive and one of the most anticipated titles of the month. Saros is a third-person action game that blends bullet hell, roguelike elements, and a grounded narrative set on the alien planet Carcosa. You play as Arjun Devraj, a Soltari Enforcer voiced by Rahul Kohli, investigating a lost colony caught in the shadow of a sinister eclipse. Unlike Returnal, Saros features permanent upgrades and progression that carry over between runs, so every death still moves you forward. The combat introduces a Soltari Shield for blocking and absorbing projectile energy, a parry system, and weapons that evolve through corruption from the eclipse. It is PS5 Pro enhanced and features 3D audio, haptic feedback, and adaptive trigger support. The Digital Deluxe Edition grants 48-hour early access and includes Enforcer suits inspired by Returnal, Ghost of Yōtei, and God of War.
