The Street Fighter cast would happily cross over with Mortal Kombat, and they’re saying so loudly. In an interview with IGN ahead of the film’s release, almost every actor asked said yes to a movie that sends Ryu and Ken against Shao Kahn alongside Liu Kang.
The question had a hook. According to IGN, Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon posted in May 2026 that he’d like a Street Fighter guest character in a Mortal Kombat game, calling himself a “huge fan” of Capcom’s series. With Mortal Kombat II already in cinemas this year, IGN asked the Street Fighter stars whether they’d extend the idea to film.
Andrew Schulz claimed the idea was his all along, joking that his viral jab at the Mortal Kombat II cast at the 2025 Game Awards was an attempt to set this up. Cody Rhodes agreed. Eric André, who said he knows Noob Saibot (an anagram of Boon and John Tobias’s names), was blunter: “We’re in. Let’s go.”

Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo and Callina Liang were just as keen. Koji said he has friends who worked on Mortal Kombat, and Centineo’s pitch was less about the opponent than the paycheque for more Street Fighter: he wants another chance to play Ken, even if that means kicking Thor in the face. Koji and Liang also raised a Marvel vs Capcom film, though IGN says the odds of that happening look astronomically low.
A crossover would raise one casting puzzle. Mel Jarnson appears in both films, and she told IGN on the Street Fighter premiere red carpet that it would be “epic” because she could bring Nitara back to life as a half-Cammy, half-Nitara hybrid. Nobody has announced such a project, so for now it’s cast enthusiasm and a lot of fan-service banter.
The studios have plenty to sort out first. Mortal Kombat’s own next chapter remains in limbo even after Mortal Kombat II made $129 million, while Street Fighter’s director has said a sequel is already being written. Both franchises have a long record of guest characters and crossover games, so a team-up wouldn’t be uncharted territory. Mortal Kombat II stars have also been floating spinoff ideas of their own.
