Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold Is Real – And the UAE Is One of the First to Get It

Samsung has finally pulled the cover off the Galaxy Z TriFold – its long-teased tri-fold phone that opens up into a 10-inch screen. The UAE isn’t just on the list; it’s one of only five launch markets, with availability from 19 December 2025, neatly lining up with the 54th Eid Al Etihad celebrations. 

On paper, this thing is closer to an ultra-thin tablet that folds into your pocket: Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, a huge three-cell battery, 200MP main camera and Samsung’s latest Galaxy AI tricks all built around that multi-fold display. It also happens to be the first phone with a standalone Samsung DeX, so it’s clearly aimed at people who want one device to work, watch and create on.

Samsung is positioning the Galaxy Z TriFold as the next step after its book-style Fold series – only now the inner screen is closer to a small tablet.

The TriFold uses an inward-folding design with two hinges, so the main 10-inch panel stays protected when the phone is shut. Think of it as three 6.5-inch phone screens working together: outside you get a regular candybar phone, but once you unfold both hinges, you’re holding a 10-inch workspace for apps, media and Galaxy AI tools. The UAE being in the first wave isn’t random either – Samsung specifically calls out the country’s 5G networks and early-adopter crowd as reasons it made the cut.

Design, hinges and screens: thin tablet energy in your pocket

The big trick is making a tri-fold that doesn’t feel like a brick. Samsung’s answer is thin panels, advanced hinges and a lot of materials engineering.

Two differently sized Armor FlexHinges use a dual-rail structure so each “leaf” of the phone folds smoothly, with a tiny gap between panels to keep the device slim when closed. A reinforced overcoat and shock-absorbing layer sit under the main display to help it cope with folding stress, while an auto-alarm system warns you if you somehow fold it the wrong way. The front uses Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, the frame is a tougher aluminium alloy, and the back is a fibre-reinforced polymer that keeps thickness down without feeling cheap. 

Brightness numbers matter here in the UAE: the cover screen goes up to 2600 nits, which should stay readable under midday sun, and Vision Booster tweaks contrast and colours so HDR content still looks clean outdoors.

Hardware and AI: ultra-tier specs with serious battery

Under the glass, this is basically a maxed-out flagship built to power three panels and Samsung’s Galaxy AI stack.

The battery setup is interesting: instead of one large cell, Samsung spreads a three-cell pack across the three sections of the device, which helps with weight balance and power delivery when you’re using the full 10-inch layout. The 5,600 mAh typical capacity is the largest on any Galaxy foldable so far, with Samsung quoting all-day use paired with 45W charging for quick top-ups. The phone also keeps up with connectivity trends: 5G, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 are all on board, and IP48 gives it basic protection from splashes and dust, though you still shouldn’t take it to the beach.

Multitasking and DeX: a portable workstation in tri-fold form

The whole point of a tri-fold is more screen to do more things at once, and Samsung leans hard into that.

Samsung’s own apps like My Files and Samsung Health have been reworked so they actually use the larger canvas instead of just stretching a phone UI. On top of that, DeX now runs directly on the phone without needing a separate PC: you can spin up to four virtual desktops, each running multiple apps, then extend to a monitor and use a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse for a proper laptop-style workspace. Cameras and entertainment: built to shoot and binge

It wouldn’t be a 2025 flagship without a heavy camera spec and smooth video playback.

Combined with the 10-inch canvas, you get more room for editing and side-by-side before/after comparisons when using Galaxy AI photo tools. For watching content, the inner display is tuned for silky 120 Hz playback, and the outer screen can hit 2600 nits so YouTube or Netflix stays visible outdoors. You can even keep a video on one side while comments, chat or notes sit on the rest of the screen.
