Phantom Blade Zero pre-orders are live today on PS5, Steam and the Epic Games Store, and the dark wuxia action RPG gets a State of Play all to itself on August 17. S-Game’s broadcast will run nearly 20 minutes of new gameplay, ahead of the game’s October 29 launch.
A State of Play for one game
The standalone Phantom Blade Zero broadcast streams August 17 at 7:00pm PT / 10:00pm ET, which is 3:00am BST and 6:00am GST on August 18 for viewers in the UAE. It airs on PlayStation’s Twitch and YouTube channels.
S-Game founder and CEO Soulframe Liang says the deep dive will go beyond the new pre-order trailer. Battling enemies atop a speeding wagon and crossing blades with former comrades like The Hunt are “just the opening moments of Soul’s journey”, with never-before-seen characters and a look at how expressive character builds can get.
The new extended trailer sets the tone in the meantime.
Donnie Yen is in it, sort of
Donnie Yen has served as creative consultant on Phantom Blade Zero since 2023, and he also provides facial and motion capture for Mó Yuan, the father of protagonist Soul. The game’s combat design carries his martial arts and action filmmaking input.
Pre-ordering unlocks the Treasure Basin accessory, which raises Remnant Dust drop rates by 10%, and the Legacy outfit. Both are early unlocks — they can also be earned through in-game progression, for anyone who prefers their bonuses un-pre-ordered.
What it means if you’re gaming in the UAE
The 6:00am GST start time is a US-broadcast speciality: the show happens to land before breakfast here rather than in prime time. It is one of those occasions where the UAE’s biggest PlayStation story of the week is best watched with coffee.
