LG has a new flagship pro display: the UltraFine evo 6K (32U990A). It’s the first 6K monitor with Thunderbolt 5, built for editors, designers and anyone pushing big files. Think 6,144 × 3,456 at 224 PPI, factory calibration, DisplayHDR 600, and colour that tracks 98% DCI-P3 / 99.5% Adobe RGB. Rollout starts in South Korea and Japan in late September, with a global launch in October.
6K panel, HiDPI clarity and pro colour
Sharp text, accurate colour, HDR-capable.
- 32-inch 6K (6,144 × 3,456), 224 PPI
- Factory-calibrated; 98% DCI-P3, 99.5% Adobe RGB
- VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification
- Studio Mode presets for macOS (coming)
The 32U990A is tuned for fidelity. HiDPI scaling makes UI text and vectors look clean at normal viewing distances, while the wide-gamut coverage suits print and graded video work. DisplayHDR 600 means higher peak brightness and better highlight detail than SDR, as defined by VESA’s CTS 1.2.
Thunderbolt 5: faster pipes, fewer cables
One cable for display, data and power—at next-gen speeds.
- First 6K monitor with Thunderbolt 5
- Up to 120 Gbps unidirectional Bandwidth Boost
- Suits 8K RAW transfers, real-time 4K renders, fast external SSDs
- Works with modern Macs and PCs
Thunderbolt 5 bumps baseline bandwidth to 80 Gbps, with 120 Gbps when the display path needs it. For creators, that means high-res video feeds, fast scratch drives and capture devices on a single cable. It’s also ready for AI-assisted workflows that crunch large datasets.
Built for multi-monitor, multi-machine setups
Scale your workspace; switch your inputs.
- 6K has 2.56× the pixels of 4K; dual 6K gives ~5× a single 4K screen
- Daisy-chain for neat dual-monitor rigs
- KVM built-in for Mac/Windows switching
- 4-side Virtually Borderless design; tilt and pivot (great for vertical video)
LG leans into workflow basics: more pixels, cleaner cabling and fast switching. The KVM lets one keyboard/mouse command two systems, while daisy-chaining simplifies dual-screen layouts—handy if you’re cutting a timeline on one panel and grading scopes on the other. The thin bezels and pivot help with document work and Shorts/Reels deliverables.
Colour management that plays nice with macOS
Consistent profiles and presets out of the box.
- Factory calibration aligned for macOS
- Studio Mode with three Mac-friendly colour presets (to be introduced)
- Wide-gamut coverage for video and print pipelines
If you live in Final Cut, Resolve or Photoshop, predictable colour matters. LG’s factory setup plus Studio Mode aims to reduce the “why does this look different?” moment when bouncing between apps and machines. Pair it with proper profiling for best results.
Availability and early context for the UAE
Staggered release; watch for GCC listings this month.
- Rollout: late September (Korea/Japan), global in October
- Already picked up CES 2025 Innovation and iF Design 2025 awards
- Expect regional pricing near other 32-inch 6K prosumer panels; UAE listings likely follow global launch windows
LG confirms the staged rollout and award nods. At the time of writing (8 October, UAE), wider availability is beginning; we’ll update once UAE retailers list stock
What makes this “the first” of its kind?
It’s the first 6K monitor with built-in Thunderbolt 5, according to LG’s launch material.
How sharp is 6K at 32 inches compared to 4K?
At 224 PPI, it’s denser than a 32-inch 4K screen. LG says 6K packs 2.56× the pixels of 4K (3,840 × 2,160), so UI text and fine lines look cleaner.
