John Cena says Peacemaker has stepped back in the DCU pecking order while James Gunn works through bigger priorities, and he’s fine with it. Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, as IGN reports, Cena said he hasn’t worn the Peacemaker helmet since the second season’s finale aired in October last year.
Asked directly whether he’d been in costume since then, Cena answered “No.” He added that he told Gunn he’d wear the helmet “as long as you need me to”, and said Gunn makes him a better performer.

“A whole box of toys”
Cena framed the delay as a matter of triage. “Now, this dude gets to play with a whole box of toys, and because you get the whole box of toys, you have to address the really valuable ones first,” he said. He named Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman as the properties that come first, and said that if he were in a leadership role, he’d make those plays first too. “I gotta step back,” he said. “That’s OK.”
ComicBook.com read the comments as potentially bad news for fans hoping for a quick return. Cena didn’t rule one out, though. He said there’s “always unfinished business”, comparing it to his wrestling retirement, where fans still ask him to come back.
Where Peacemaker stands
Season 2 ended with Chris Smith exiled to a dimension called Salvation, a cliffhanger that remains unresolved. Gunn said late last year that Season 3 wasn’t a priority: “Never say never, but right now, no.” He tied the cliffhanger to “the future of the DCU”. Peacemaker has since appeared in a cameo in Gunn’s Superman.
Gunn’s slate is crowded. He’s writing and directing Man of Tomorrow, the Superman sequel due in 2027, while overseeing Lanterns, Clayface, and The Brave and the Bold. He’s also casting Batman and Wonder Woman. Following the Paramount and Warner Bros. merger, he and Peter Safran are staying at DC Studios. Robert Pattinson has also questioned whether his own Batman will ever meet Gunn’s Superman, a sign of how many threads the DCU is juggling. Clayface arrives later this month.
No Peacemaker Season 3 or spin-off has been announced, and neither HBO nor DC Studios has given a timeline.
Has Peacemaker Season 3 been confirmed?
No. Gunn said late last year it wasn’t a priority, and Cena says he hasn’t worn the costume since the Season 2 finale.
Where can I watch Peacemaker?
