The first full Godzilla Minus Zero trailer confirms that King Ghidorah will appear in the sequel to Godzilla Minus One, although the three-headed kaiju is heard rather than properly shown.
IGN reports that the roughly 90-second trailer follows Kōichi Shikishima and Noriko Ōishi after the events of Godzilla Minus One. Godzilla appears to return, but a second voice warns: “Don’t worry … this isn’t Godzilla we’re talking about.” The cry that follows is the familiar roar of King Ghidorah.
Godzilla Minus Zero gives Ghidorah a careful introduction
The trailer does not show King Ghidorah in full. It does include yellow lightning, a glimpse of what appears to be a yellow scale and Godzilla falling from the sky. Those details, alongside the roar, leave little mystery about the monster being teased.
The reveal also gives the title an extra layer. King Ghidorah is often associated with the name Monster Zero, making Godzilla Minus Zero a rather direct piece of naming from Toho. The film appears to be saving the full creature reveal for a later trailer — or the cinema screen.
The official Godzilla Minus Zero page describes a Japan still recovering two years after the events of Godzilla Minus One. A new threat arrives after that fragile peace, with the synopsis ending on “There is no third time. Everything ends here.”
Godzilla Minus Zero is Toho’s first Japanese IMAX production
Takashi Yamazaki returns as writer, director and VFX supervisor. Empire reports that the film is the first Japanese production filmed for IMAX, following the commercial and critical success of Godzilla Minus One.
The film opens in Japan on 3 November 2026 before GKIDS brings it to North American cinemas on 6 November. The official page confirms the North American date, but a UAE cinema release has not been announced in the sources checked for this article.
Godzilla may have survived the first film. Ghidorah, meanwhile, has apparently been waiting for his audio cue.
