Final Fantasy 7 Revelation could take up to 100 hours to complete if players tackle its campaign, side activities and endgame content, according to director Naoki Hamaguchi. He has already played through the game 46 times during development.

Hamaguchi told GameSpot that a run checking every asset and element from beginning to end would “easily take over a hundred hours”. He does not repeat that exact process every time, instead skipping combat or focusing on specific parts of the game during different playthroughs.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is a sizeable final chapter

The estimate covers a complete run rather than a minimum route through the story. Hamaguchi said his 46 playthroughs have involved different testing goals, including the main story, individual systems and potential issues across the build.

He even brought a PS5 controller to interviews during the game’s press tour, using spare time to check the latest version. That is a fairly committed way to make a waiting room disappear.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is the final entry in the remake trilogy that began with 2020’s Final Fantasy 7 Remake and continued with 2024’s Rebirth. Square Enix has previously described the game as the trilogy’s conclusion, and the official announcement confirms an April 8, 2027 release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam and Epic Games.

The game is also expected to carry forward the series’ large collection of optional activities. Square Enix has said players will be able to skip minigames and move through cutscenes more quickly, so the 100-hour figure should not be read as a requirement for reaching the ending.

What does the 100-hour estimate include?

The figure includes the main campaign, side activities and endgame content. It is an estimate for doing everything rather than a confirmed length for a standard story-only playthrough.

The scope fits the direction already reported in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation’s release-date announcement and the developers’ plan for the game’s base story to conclude the remake trilogy. More details on how the optional content is divided are likely to arrive before launch.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation launches on April 8, 2027. It will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, Steam and Epic Games.
