ElevenLabs has released ElevenLabs Music v2.5, making it the default model for prompted and reference generation in ElevenMusic while keeping Music v2 available. The update also brings lossless downloads to the Free plan, giving creators five downloads a day without moving straight to a paid subscription.

ElevenLabs Music v2.5 aims for fuller songs
ElevenLabs says Music v2.5 produces more layered arrangements, natural-sounding instruments and more movement through a track. In a blind test covering 47,885 pairs of takes made from the same prompts, the new model was preferred by listeners most of the time. The company says the difference was clearest in vocal-led and acoustic-heavy genres including R&B, soul, hip-hop, rock, metal, orchestral and cinematic music.
The launch follows a wider push to make generated music usable beyond a quick demo. ElevenLabs says the model was trained on licensed stems and music, although it has not published a full account of the training data. The company’s Music Terms still set restrictions on inputs and uses, including tracks based on another artist’s song.
Five free downloads, with a credit attached
Free users get five lossless downloads per day, while Pro users get 400 a month. Tracks made on the Free plan can be used commercially if users credit ElevenMusic, subject to the service’s terms and industry restrictions. The permissions attached when a track is created remain with it if a user later cancels or downgrades.
That makes the free tier useful for testing a soundtrack workflow, but not a blank cheque for cloning a familiar singer. Downloads based on other artists’ songs are blocked, and imitating existing musicians is not allowed.
The API is available too
ElevenLabs Music v2.5 is available in ElevenCreative, Studio and Flows, as well as through the ElevenLabs API. Developers can generate tracks inside their own products, while creators can run music generation alongside video and other audio tools. The release is separate from ElevenLabs’ recently announced licensing agreement with Universal Music Group.
For UAE creators, there is no local launch price to check: the service is delivered online, and API use follows the account plan and Music Terms. ElevenLabs’ move puts lossless output within reach of free users, although commercial projects still need to carry the required attribution on that tier.
The new model also follows other recent AI music tools, including Google’s Lyria 3.5 music generation and Stable Audio 3. ElevenLabs Music v2.5 is available now, with Music v2 remaining available for users who prefer the earlier model.
