e& has launched its first AI laptop, built with Qualcomm, that runs large language models on the device rather than in the cloud. The AI Laptop by e&, announced on 27 August, runs Windows 11 and is aimed at enterprise customers, with offline AI for sectors where data cannot leave the building: government, financial services, healthcare, education, logistics and remote field work.
What’s inside the AI Laptop by e&
There are two configurations. The S1-14 Elite uses a 12-core Snapdragon X Elite with up to 32GB of LPDDR5X memory and up to 1TB of PCIe Gen5 storage; the S1-14 Plus runs an eight-core Snapdragon X Plus with 16GB of LPDDR5X and 512GB of PCIe Gen4.
The on-device intelligence comes via “AI Talk by e&”, an app that supports models from the Llama, Jais and Qwen families. Jais is the UAE’s home-grown Arabic large language model, developed by G42’s Core42 — which makes the sovereignty pitch less abstract than most.
AI that doesn’t need to phone home
The selling point is that the models stay on the laptop. e& says processing happens locally, so documents and prompts are not sent to an external cloud, and the device keeps working with no internet connection. For regulated organisations in the UAE, that is the difference between an AI tool and a compliance problem.

Qualcomm’s Mohammed Al Khairy, Head of Edge AI for the Middle East and Africa, said the Snapdragon platform lets enterprises “improve productivity while maintaining control of their data”. The launch follows a broader e& and Qualcomm edge-AI partnership agreed in 2025, and sits alongside e&’s Business Pro AI bundle, which wraps Microsoft Copilot into business broadband plans.
What it means for businesses in the UAE
An offline AI laptop matters most at remote sites with poor connectivity — construction, energy and field operations — where cloud-dependent tools drop out. The UAE government has made AI adoption a stated priority, and a device that keeps data on-site is an easier sell to regulators than a chat app that sends everything overseas. The local angle runs deeper: the supported models include Jais, a model built in the UAE for Arabic and English.
e& lists the laptops as monthly instalments: the S1-14 Plus from AED 115 a month, the S1-14 Elite at AED 124 (512GB) or AED 134 (1TB), all excluding VAT. For a frame of reference, HUMAIN showed a Snapdragon X2 Elite laptop aimed at the same agentic-AI niche earlier this year, and open-weights models like Meta’s Muse Glimmer are making on-device AI a realistic laptop feature rather than a demo.
