Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has awarded Garmin the naming rights to the former ONPASSIVE Metro Station for 10 years. The station will become Garmin Metro Station, with the change rolling across signs, digital systems and onboard announcements between September and the end of November 2026.
The agreement was reported by Khaleej Times, while Campaign Middle East reported that Garmin is the first global brand to secure naming rights on the Dubai Metro Red Line.
What changes at Garmin Metro Station
The station’s new name will appear on internal and external wayfinding signs, maps, RTA’s public transport applications and other digital systems. Audio announcements made before and upon arrival at the station will also be updated.
The rollout will happen progressively. RTA says passengers can approach station teams for help during the transition, when older references to ONPASSIVE and the new Garmin branding may both be in circulation.
Why Garmin Metro Station is being renamed
The deal was signed through AMIT Retail LLC, Garmin’s exclusive UAE distributor, with Hypermedia. Mada Media oversees the out-of-home advertising sector and naming-rights agreements under its concession arrangement with RTA.
The Dubai Metro Stations Naming Rights Initiative launched in 2009 and gives companies long-term branding across stations, signage, maps, announcements and digital services. The Garmin agreement extends that programme to the Red Line, where commuters will now hear the brand before they hear the next-stop warning.
The station remains on the Red Line. The change is to its name and branding, not its route or location.
