Crimson Desert Has Sold 6 Million Copies in Less Than Three Months

Pearl Abyss has announced that Crimson Desert has sold more than six million copies worldwide, reaching the milestone just 83 days after its global launch.

The open-world action adventure game was released on March 19 and sold two million copies within its first day. It went on to pass five million sales before the end of its first month, before adding another million copies over the following weeks.

The result is particularly notable because Crimson Desert is a new IP rather than an entry in an established franchise. Pearl Abyss says the six-million mark represents an unprecedented sales achievement for a single-player game developed in South Korea.

The sales momentum has also carried over to the US market. According to Circana data cited by Pearl Abyss, Crimson Desert ranked second in year-to-date US video game sales for 2026 as of the company's latest update.

"Despite being a new IP, Crimson Desert has achieved meaningful success in the global market," said Pearl Abyss CEO Jin-young Heo. "To provide more enjoyable and better experiences, Pearl Andyss will continue moving forward and taking on new challenges."

Pearl Abyss previously confirmed that Crimson Desert had crossed five million sales in April. At the time, the developer said the game had also reached a peak of 276,261 concurrent players on Steam following its release.

Pearl Abyss is planning more Crimson Desert updates and DLC

The studio is continuing to expand the game after launch. A series of updates scheduled between June and September will introduce story improvements, new combat elements, quality of life changes and cross-save functionality across PC, PS5, and Xbox.

Pearl Abyss has also confirmed that downloadable content is in development, although it has not yet announced a release date or detailed what the expansion will include.
