The Readiness app should arrive alongside whatever Apple shows on 9 September; we are covering the keynote as it happens in our Apple event live blog.

Apple is reportedly preparing an Apple Watch Readiness app for its 9 September event, giving the watch a recovery-focused feature built around the health data it already collects. The report comes from MacRumors, citing Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

Apple Watch showing Overnight Vitals health data relevant to Readiness insights

What the Apple Watch Readiness app is expected to do

Gurman says the app will be a variant of Apple’s existing Vitals app, rather than an entirely separate health platform. It is expected to use measures such as heart rate, respiratory rate, wrist temperature, blood oxygen and sleep duration to give users a clearer view of how recovered they are for the day.

That puts Apple closer to the daily recovery scores already offered by Oura and WHOOP. Oura’s Readiness Score runs from 0 to 100, while the reported Apple approach would build on the overnight health information already visible in the Vitals app. Apple’s official watchOS 27 preview confirms that the operating system is built around expanded health, fitness and workout insights, although it does not mention the reported app by name.

Apple Watch Readiness app timing and supported watches

The Apple Watch Readiness app is expected to be announced alongside the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 at Apple’s 9 September event. Apple’s event page confirms the presentation is scheduled for 9 September at 10 a.m. Pacific Time.

Apple has not confirmed the app, its final name, the score it may use or which Apple Watch models will support it. The feature would sit alongside Apple’s existing Apple Watch health upgrades and the company’s watchOS 27 compatibility details. UAE pricing is not relevant to the software announcement, and local availability will depend on the watchOS release and supported hardware.

The company may have decided that telling users they are tired is more useful when the watch can provide a number for it.
