Acer’s new Swift Blade 14 weighs 799g. That is the entire pitch, and it launches a new sub-brand sitting above the existing Swift range. Announced at IFA 2026, it pairs a magnesium-aluminium and carbon fibre chassis with Intel’s low-power Wildcat Lake processors, ships in EMEA in December 2026, and — unusually for an ultralight — is positioned below €2,000 rather than at halo prices.
Where the 400g came from
Two things did most of the work. The chassis mixes magnesium-aluminium alloy with carbon fibre in the lid and bottom plate, and the processor is Intel’s Wildcat Lake — a low-power part built as a single module, which shrinks the cooling hardware a laptop needs to wrap around it. Less heat to move means fewer heat pipes, a smaller fan assembly and a thinner deck, and the weight falls out of the design rather than being shaved off it.
The rest is restraint. The battery is 50Wh, not 70Wh. There are three USB-C ports and a headphone jack, and one of the three is data-only. Storage tops out at 1TB and memory is fixed at 12GB of LPDDR5-6400 whichever chip you pick. Acer’s engineers also credit what phone-oriented ODM teams have learned about packing components into no space at all, which is a fair description of a 12.9mm laptop.

For scale: 799g against roughly 1.24kg for a 13-inch MacBook Air, and about 1.7mm thicker. That is close to half a kilo of difference in a bag, which you notice by the end of a working day in a way that no benchmark captures.
The interesting number is the price, not the weight
Ultralight laptops are usually halo products with halo pricing — the trick has existed for years at €3,000-4,000. Acer’s position on the Swift Blade 14 is explicitly that it is not that: premium in feel, but priced to sell, with Acer indicating a positioning below €2,000 rather than in halo territory.
Actual pricing has not been published, and Acer says it will come closer to the December launch. Below €2,000 is a ceiling, not a price, and there is no UAE figure at all yet. We are not converting a ceiling into dirhams and pretending it means something.
What you give up
A Core 7 350 with 12GB of soldered memory and integrated graphics is a competent machine for documents, browsers, mail and video calls. It is not going to trade blows with an M5 MacBook Air, and Acer is not claiming it will. Note also the 90Hz cap on the best panel, Wi-Fi 6 rather than Wi-Fi 7, and the fact that 12GB is the whole story — no 16GB option, no upgrade later.
Buy it because you carry a laptop all day, every day. Do not buy it as your only machine if you edit video, keep forty tabs and a virtual machine open, or want it to last five years on the strength of its memory.
When it lands here
EMEA availability is in December 2026, which covers the Middle East as a region, with North America following in Q1 2027 — the unusual case of the Gulf being early rather than late. Whether it reaches UAE shelves is Acer Middle East’s decision, and no local price or date has been confirmed.
Alongside it Acer announced the Swift Air 16, a 16in aluminium machine on the same Wildcat Lake chips with up to 16GB of memory, a 70Wh battery, up to a 3K 120Hz OLED display at 600 nits, a touch IPS option and quad speakers, at 1.5kg.
