“28 Years 3, or whatever it ends up being called, will get made because people keep asking about it. Quite when I’m not sure, but there’s a script – a very good script by Alex Garland.”

Boyle did not announce a production start or release date. His comments confirm confidence in the project, but leave the schedule open. The third film is still being described by its place in the planned trilogy; Boyle’s wording suggests its final title has not been settled.

Cillian Murphy will have a larger role
Murphy appeared briefly as Jim at the end of The Bone Temple, after playing him in the original 28 Days Later. Boyle said the next film will have “a lot of Cillian Murphy” in it, while joking that he might not reprise the original film’s shirtless scenes now that he has an Oscar.
“[It will have] a lot of Cillian Murphy in it. Whether he’ll take his kit off anymore, that I don’t know. He’s got the Oscar now.”
