Zayed National Museum: the UAE’s new national landmark
The museum is set up as the place to understand how the UAE came to be, and why Sheikh Zayed still matters to daily life here.
- National Museum of the UAE, located in the Saadiyat Cultural District, Abu Dhabi
- Designed by Lord Norman Foster of Foster + Partners
- Tells the story of the land and its people, with Sheikh Zayed’s life woven through the narrative
- Acts as a cultural bridge between the seven emirates
Zayed National Museum presents the country’s story from the earliest human traces on this land to the present day. It treats Sheikh Zayed’s life as a lens, using his values and decisions to explain how unity, faith, geography and trade shaped the UAE. The result is a museum that is as much about people and daily life as it is about artefacts in glass cases.
