Sonos Appoints Tom Conrad as Chief Executive Officer

Sonos has officially named Tom Conrad as its new Chief Executive Officer, following a six-month interim tenure marked by rapid innovation and renewed focus. The appointment signals a bold new chapter for the premium audio brand as it doubles down on AI-enhanced software, product innovation, and immersive listening experiences.

Conrad, who has served on the Sonos Board since 2017, brings a resume that reads like a greatest hits of Silicon Valley, with leadership roles at Apple, Pandora, Snap Inc., and more. His elevation to CEO follows a “comprehensive and competitive search,” according to Sonos Board Chair Julius Genachowski.

“Tom has earned the confidence of our employees, customers, partners and shareholders,” said Genachowski. “He has a compelling vision for Sonos’ future—especially in a world where AI and innovation are reshaping consumer expectations.”

What Conrad Has Already Achieved

During his interim tenure, Conrad spearheaded key initiatives to improve software quality, unlock a new product pipeline, and enhance the user experience on flagship products like the Sonos Ace and Arc Ultra.

“We’ve dramatically improved our software products and recommitted to delivering the kind of premium experience our customers expect,” said Conrad. “We’re just getting started.”

His appointment comes at a pivotal time as Sonos competes not only on sound quality, but on smart integrations and software intelligence—an area where Conrad’s product leadership at Pandora and Snap gives him a strong edge.

From Apple to Audio: A Tech Veteran’s Journey

Conrad’s tech journey started at Apple, where he helped shape the early Macintosh user interface, and later expanded to streaming platforms like Pandora, where he was a key architect in bringing personalised internet radio to the mainstream.

He also served as Chief Product Officer at Quibi, and more recently as CEO of Zero Longevity Science, a digital health platform. Across all roles, Conrad has shown a flair for building user-centric products that scale.

What’s Next for Sonos?

With AI advancing rapidly and consumer expectations evolving, Conrad’s vision for Sonos is clear: more immersive, more intelligent, and more seamlessly integrated listening experiences across homes and lifestyles.

Expect the company to lean heavily into software-driven innovation, while continuing to roll out premium audio hardware. Sonos has also teased a robust upcoming product pipeline, although details remain under wraps.
