Starfield could be coming to PS5 in April according to insider claims

Starfield could be coming to PlayStation 5 on April 7, 2025, according to a Polish gaming insider. The unconfirmed report claims both Standard and Premium editions of Bethesda's sci-fi RPG will launch on Sony's console, though Microsoft has not officially announced a PS5 port.

Insider claims specific April date

Polish site PPE.pl cites insider Graczdari, who reportedly handles physical game sales in Europe, as the source of the April 7 release date. As reported by VGC, the same source previously leaked accurate information about Oblivion Remastered physical copies and the Nintendo Switch 2 port of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.

The previous Starfield PS5 rumours suggested a Spring 2026 target, but this new claim moves the timeline significantly forward. Earlier reports indicated the delay was due to weak sales of the Shattered Space expansion, with plans to launch the PS5 version alongside the game's second major expansion.

Microsoft's multiplatform shift continues

A PS5 port of Starfield aligns with Microsoft's broader strategy announced in February 2024. The company outlined its 'vision of the future of Xbox' which included bringing more first-party games to PlayStation and Nintendo platforms.

Several Xbox exclusives have already made the jump, including Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded. Microsoft has been working on a more consistent release schedule for bringing Xbox games to other platforms.

Starfield remains one of the few major Xbox Game Studios titles yet to be officially confirmed for PlayStation 5. Industry insider Nate the Hate has also claimed the game will eventually come to Nintendo Switch 2.

What we don't know

Neither Microsoft nor Bethesda has confirmed a PlayStation 5 version of Starfield. The companies have not responded to the latest claims about an April release date.

Details about what would differentiate the Premium Edition from the Standard version remain unclear. Pricing for both editions, if they exist, has not been disclosed.

The timing would coincide with the game's second expansion, which Bethesda has not officially announced or dated. The first expansion, Shattered Space, launched in September 2024 to mixed reception.
