Spider-Man games get a player boost from Brand New Day’s box office run

Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s box office haul has spilled into the games. All three Insomniac Spider-Man titles — Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Miles Morales and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 — recorded their biggest Steam crowds in years over the weekend, per Push Square, citing SteamDB data.

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered peaked at around 16,000 concurrent players on Sunday, its highest count since the game’s 2022 PC launch. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 topped out at roughly 12,000 over the same stretch, while Miles Morales also saw an uptick. On the PlayStation Store, Spider-Man 2 has climbed to about 30th on the best-sellers chart, and PSNProfiles ranks it around 15th among the most-played games.

The rises line up with the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which opened to roughly $927 million worldwide — the second-biggest global opening ever — and around $355 million in North America, just shy of Avengers: Endgame’s domestic record, per Reuters.

Why the Spider-Man games got a player boost

The movie’s action scenes were built around the games’ look and finishing moves — Tom Holland has said as much — and the games are now collecting the spillover. Push Square expects more concrete figures from Circana and Sony’s own store charts later this month. The film borrowed the games’ look; the games are now borrowing the film’s audience.

All three games are available on the UAE PlayStation Store and Steam — Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Miles Morales on PS4, PS5 and PC, Spider-Man 2 on PS5 and PC — for anyone the film left in a web-slinging mood.
