Solenn Abu Dhabi has been confirmed: the Greek-Mediterranean restaurant that opened on Marsa Boulevard in Dubai Festival City last year is expanding to the capital. The new outpost will sit at The Arcades inside Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club, with an opening date yet to be announced.

Where is Solenn opening in Abu Dhabi?

The Arcades is the equestrian club’s new lifestyle destination, pairing curated retail with a dining line-up on terraces that overlook the arena. Its food roster has so far run to pop-ups — Knot Bakehouse, bkry and The Espresso Lab among them — and Solenn is among the first full restaurants to lock in a table at the venue.

Who is the chef behind Solenn?

The concept is Gregoire Berger’s. The chef made his name as head chef at Ossiano, the Michelin-starred seafood restaurant at Atlantis The Palm, and now runs Kraken on Wasl Road. Solenn is his Greek-Mediterranean project, and the menu reads the way his cooking usually does: seafood, seasonal vegetables, herbs, olive oil and citrus, served as sharing plates.

What’s on the menu at Solenn Abu Dhabi?

The Dubai outpost previews the line-up: marinated artichoke hearts, truffle arancini, burrata with heirloom tomatoes, charred octopus skewers and spicy tuna tartare. Beyond a promise of a refreshed menu, Solenn has shared few specifics about the Abu Dhabi kitchen.

The Dubai room sets the mood in warm woods and neutral tones with the creek outside the windows; the Abu Dhabi version swaps the water view for the arena. The setting suits a long lunch, which the sharing-plate menu was built for anyway.

Solenn is the latest in a busy year of UAE restaurant openings. Gymkhana’s two-Michelin-star Dubai debut at DIFC, OTHER in Dar Al Wasl and CupBop’s JBR flagship have all landed recently; Solenn takes the Greek-Mediterranean brief to the capital.

Solenn will open at The Arcades, Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club. No date has been set; updates are posted on the restaurant’s Instagram (@thesolenn.ae).
