The Sebastian Stan Harvey Dent casting is settled: speaking to French outlet Le Journal du Dimanche, the actor confirmed he plays Gotham’s district attorney in The Batman Part II, as reported by IGN and Forbes.

“I also can’t say anything about The Batman: Part II, by Matt Reeves, where I play Harvey Dent.”

Stan had been linked to the role since his casting was first reported last year. In May he said he would play “many roles in this one” — tbreak covered the hint — and a shaved-head sighting briefly made him a candidate for Victor Zsasz.

Harvey Dent is Gotham’s district attorney, the “White Knight” whose acid-scarred face turns him into Two-Face; Aaron Eckhart played him in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. Earlier reports also linked Charles Dance to the role of Dent’s father.

Sebastian Stan Harvey Dent: the actor confirms the role

Whether Two-Face appears in this film is unconfirmed; the confirmation covers Dent himself. The cast already includes Robert Pattinson as Batman and Scarlett Johansson, who was announced alongside Stan.

The Batman Part II is filming in the UK. Recent set photos showed the Batmobile in Glasgow — which is also doubling for New York in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, leaving Gotham the most well-travelled fictional city in cinema — and a GCPD convoy shooting in Liverpool’s Birkenhead Tunnel.

The Batman Part II release date

The sequel slipped to February 18, 2028 earlier this year, and that date holds. Stan’s comments came during a wider interview about Avengers: Doomsday, in which he returns as Bucky Barnes; that film arrives December 18, 2026.

Who is Harvey Dent?

Harvey Dent is Gotham City’s district attorney, known as the White Knight. In the comics, acid thrown at him during a trial scars half his face and he becomes Two-Face, a villain who lets a scarred coin decide his actions. Aaron Eckhart played him in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight.

Will Harvey Dent become Two-Face in The Batman Part II?

Not confirmed. Sebastian Stan’s casting as Dent, and his comment that he plays “many roles” in the film, point that way, but Matt Reeves and DC have not said whether the transformation happens in this sequel or is set up for later.

What else is Sebastian Stan working on?

Stan returns as Bucky Barnes in Avengers: Doomsday, which opens December 18, 2026, and stars opposite Renate Reinsve in the drama Fjord. His interview with Le Journal du Dimanche was for Fjord’s release.
