Ring has started rolling out Familiar Faces to eligible customers in the UAE, giving compatible cameras the option to identify people a household has already labelled. The feature can replace a generic motion alert with a notification such as “Mom at Front Door”. It is available on eligible Ring 2K, 4K and select HD devices with a Ring Pro subscription.
Ring Familiar Faces UAE: what the feature does
Familiar Faces is opt-in. Owners can build a directory of up to 50 people, including family members, neighbours, babysitters and dog walkers. Profiles can be renamed, merged or deleted, while unnamed profiles are removed after 30 days. Ring’s support guide says recognition works best when a person faces the camera in good lighting.
The feature can also be used to reduce alerts for a household’s own arrivals while keeping notifications for other visitors. Ring says the app provides prompts about obtaining explicit consent from visitors where local law requires it. Face data is encrypted and kept within the customer’s account, according to the release.
What Ring TAKE encryption changes
Ring is also beginning a phased rollout of TAKE, short for Throw Away the Key Encryption. The company says it will become the default encryption setting for Ring customers worldwide once the rollout is complete, while end-to-end encryption remains an option.
TAKE uses rotating keys. Ring can access a temporary cloud-held copy to run enabled features such as Smart Alerts, then deletes that copy. The customer and selected Shared Users retain access through enrolled devices. Ring’s privacy notice explains how encrypted video and account access are handled.
Ring Protect plan prices in the UAE
Ring’s UAE plans page currently displays subscription prices in US dollars. The AED figures below are approximate conversions at AED 3.6725 to US$1; Ring may charge and settle the subscription in US dollars, so the final bank amount can vary slightly.

Ring also lists two optional add-ons: Pro Intelligence costs US$5 (about AED 18.36) per device each month when added to Solo or Multi, while 24/7 Continuous Recording costs US$3 (about AED 11.02) per eligible camera each month and requires any Ring Protect plan. A free 30-day trial starts when a compatible device is set up, unless the location already has an active subscription or trial. Without a subscription, owners can still view live video and respond to alerts, but recorded video review is not available.
