- Sony announced Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble, a free-to-play multiplayer arena shooter for iOS and Android
- Developed by Oh BiBi with Insomniac Games involvement; pre-registration is live on the official website
- Trailer shows fast, third-person action with series characters and Captain Qwark's "simulation" training.
The next Ratchet & Clank isn’t a PS5 showpiece. It’s Ranger Rumble, a free-to-play multiplayer arena shooter on phones. Sony says you’ll pick “legendary heroes”, dash about, collect bolts and cause chaos—then queue for the next round. It’s being built by French studio Oh BiBi with Insomniac attached, and you can pre-register now. No date yet, but a trailer and an official site are up, and some regions already have early access.
What exactly is Ranger Rumble?
A quick one-liner: it’s a fast-paced, third-person multiplayer arena shooter with Ratchet & Clank characters, weapons and slapstick energy. The setup leans on Captain Qwark running a “totally safe” training sim—so expect colourful maps, quick rounds and loud gadgets.
- Free to download on iOS and Android
- Pick “legendary heroes” from across the series
- Customise your Ranger; jump, dash, grind rails, collect bolts
- Multiple chaotic game modes; focus on short, replayable matches
Under the hood, this is Ratchet & Clank’s tone poured into a mobile-friendly arena formula. The trailer shows rail-grinds, airborne dodges and chunky, cartoon weapons you’d expect from the series—only now it’s built for quick lobbies rather than a single-player story.
Who’s making it?
Sony is publishing. Oh BiBi—the team behind FRAG Pro Shooter—is developing, with Insomniac Games involved (it’s their IP, after all). Oh BiBi is a Paris studio that specialises in bright, fast mobile shooters, which fits the brief.
- Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment
- Developer: Oh BiBi (Paris)
- Series steward: Insomniac Games (in partnership/oversight)
If you’ve played FRAG, you’ll recognise the snappy match length and “hero” abilities vibe. That experience should help the studio balance quick-fire PvP on phones—a different beast from a console platformer.

Monetisation and what we still don’t know
Here’s what Sony hasn’t said yet: release date, UAE availability, and how monetisation will work. Expect the usual F2P mix—cosmetics, passes, maybe character unlocks—but nothing official has been detailed. We’ll update once Sony shares the model.
- No confirmed date or regional schedule
- No pricing on in-app purchases or battle passes
- Expect soft-launch tuning before wider release
If you’re allergic to microtransactions, fair. On the flip side, free-to-play helps with UAE costs (which are… not small, as our breakdown shows). Free entry plus short sessions may suit bus commutes more than sofa sessions.
