Sony’s mobile spin-off Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble has been cancelled before it ever reached a full release. VGC reports that the free-to-play multiplayer shooter will leave the mobile stores on 21 November and shut down for good on 1 May 2027. Anyone who already has it installed can keep playing until then.
The decision came in a statement on the game’s official website, dated 6 November 2026. It says the team has made the difficult decision to cease development. The final planned update rolled out the same day, and the studio thanked players who spent time playing and sent feedback during development.
VGC’s report embeds a video alongside the statement.
What happens to players and the game
The shutdown runs in two stages, which gives current players about six months. On 21 November the game comes off the App Store and Google Play, so new players can’t download it. All current modes, matchmaking and competitive features stay active until end of service on 1 May 2027. After that date, the game will no longer load.
Sony and developer Oh BiBi have also changed how the game earns money while it winds down. In-app purchases are removed. The Qwark Pass seasons continue until 1 May 2027, and the Super Pass is now free, with all content earnable through each season. Players can still earn rewards through play and spend that currency on upgrades, cosmetics, characters and other currencies.
Players should use what they’ve earned before the cut-off. They have until 1 May 2027 to claim rewards and spend any currency they’ve earned or bought. All player data is wiped from the servers at end of service, and players who want their data deleted sooner can contact support. We’d suggest spending any currency you’ve bought well before the final weeks, in case the servers misbehave near the end.
A soft launch that never widened
Ranger Rumble was announced in November 2025 as a fast-paced multiplayer platformer arena shooter. PlayStation published it, and Oh BiBi developed it in partnership with Insomniac. According to VGC, it soft-launched that month in the Philippines and Indonesia, then reached Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, France, Canada and the UK over the following months. No full worldwide release followed. We haven’t seen any sign that it was offered in the UAE, Saudi Arabia or Egypt.
The original pitch leaned on Insomniac’s world. The synopsis promised heroes from across the galaxy and time, a customisable Ranger, and chaotic game modes built around jumping, dashing, grinding and collecting bolts, all under the watch of Captain Qwark. Gematsu notes that publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment and Oh BiBi announced the cancellation together.
Sony hasn’t given a reason, and the statement stops at the difficult decision. The cancellation does leave one gap on mobile. The studio says it has no impact on other Ratchet & Clank games or PlayStation services. If you want to play the series, the console games are the route. We covered the classic Ratchet & Clank joining PlayStation Plus Classics earlier.
The wider mobile picture is mixed for big-name shooters. Overwatch Rush is Blizzard’s new mobile take on a hero shooter. The Division Resurgence went the other way and launched free on iOS and Android worldwide.
Can I still play Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble?
Yes, if it’s already installed. The game stays playable, with all modes and matchmaking active, until the servers close on 1 May 2027. New downloads end on 21 November.
What happens to my progress and currency?
You have until 1 May 2027 to claim rewards and spend any currency you’ve earned or bought. After that, all player data is deleted and the game won’t load. You can contact support to have your data deleted earlier.
Does this affect other Ratchet & Clank games?
No. The official FAQ says the cancellation has no impact on other Ratchet & Clank games or PlayStation services.
