PlayStation has announced the PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset and PlayStation Pulse Edge Wireless Headset as the next pair of PS5 audio products. The PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset launches in select markets this holiday season, while the Pulse Edge arrives from early 2027; prices and pre-orders are still to be announced, according to PlayStation.

The new PlayStation Pulse headsets use studio-inspired planar magnetic drivers, with larger drivers intended to produce fuller bass while preserving sound separation and spatial accuracy. Both models support PS5 and other compatible devices, and both will be available in White and Midnight Black.

PlayStation Pulse headsets: what is different?

The standard PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset is the simpler of the two models. Pulse Edge adds a set of features aimed at players who want more control over their audio, including active noise cancellation, built-in game audio and chat balance controls, a carrying case, and an audio and microphone jack.

Sony says the Pulse Edge’s planar magnetic drivers use double the magnet volume of the standard PlayStation Pulse. That is intended to deliver deeper bass without losing the detail needed to hear quieter sounds in games. Both headsets also use built-in microphones with AI noise rejection, according to Press Start.

PlayStation Pulse release dates and prices

The PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset is due to launch in select markets during the 2026 holiday season. Pulse Edge follows in early 2027. Sony has not announced either headset’s exact release date, pre-order date or price, and it has not confirmed UAE availability yet.

The announcement gives PS5 owners a clear choice, although the final decision will probably depend on a price Sony has not supplied. The standard model covers the essential audio upgrade, while Pulse Edge reserves its extra features for players who want ANC and physical audio controls.

The original PlayStation Pulse 3D Wireless Headset remains the useful point of comparison until Sony publishes the new models’ full specifications and local availability.
