Sony has put a price and a date on the first of its new PS5 headsets. The PlayStation Pulse wireless headset goes on sale on November 19 at $99.99 (£89.99, €99.99, ¥15,980), with pre-orders opening on October 29. The catch for our region is the launch list: UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt aren’t on it.
The details come from an October 21 update to the PlayStation Blog announcement, which we first covered when the Pulse and Pulse Edge headsets were announced. The blog, written by Joe Bentley, Vice President of Engineering at Sony Interactive Entertainment, lists the launch markets as the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, the UK, Israel, Ukraine and most of Western and Northern Europe. For everywhere else, Sony says the release date will be “announced at a later date”. It gives no timeline and no pricing for those countries.
Pre-order dates and where to buy
Pre-orders open at 10:00am local time on October 29, direct from PlayStation where available and through participating retailers. US buyers get the earlier slot of 7:00am PT through direct.playstation.com. The UK, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg use playstation.com/store/hardware. Sony names no retailers, and the update doesn’t mention the Middle East or any regional distributor.
In practice, Gulf and Egyptian buyers will probably wait for a regional listing or turn to grey imports. If you go that way, we recommend checking warranty terms first, because the headset ships with a USB-C PlayStation Link adapter and you’d want it covered. The existing range is a rough guide to local pricing, though not a prediction. Geekay’s UAE store lists the Pulse Elite at AED 649.
What you get
Pulse is the cheaper of two models, and it keeps the planar magnetic drivers Sony introduced with the Pulse Elite in 2024. Sony says the new drivers are larger than the Elite’s, which it credits for fuller, deeper bass while keeping the clean sound of the earlier model. Both new headsets use PlayStation Link for lossless, low-latency audio and can switch between a PS5, PlayStation Portal, PC and Mac. They can also stay connected to a Bluetooth device at the same time.
Both models share an AI-enhanced noise rejection system on their mics and rotating earcups that let them lie flat for travel. They come in White and Midnight Black. The difference lies in the extras, which is where the Edge, due in early 2027, earns its premium:
| Feature | PlayStation Pulse | Pulse Edge |
|---|---|---|
| Magnets per planar driver | 4 | 8 |
| Microphone | Integrated, AI noise rejection | Hidden or detachable boom, AI noise rejection |
| Active noise cancellation | No | Yes |
| Game and chat balance on headset (PS5) | No | Yes |
| Carrying case | No | Yes |
| 3.5mm audio/mic jack | No | Yes |
| Built-in volume control | Yes | Yes |
Sony says the Edge’s drivers have double the magnet volume of the Pulse’s, which it says gives richer bass without losing precision. The company will share more on the Edge closer to launch, and there’s no price for it yet.
What to do next
If you’re in the UAE, Saudi Arabia or Egypt and want a PS5 headset now, the Pulse Elite is the model on shelves locally. If you can wait, the new Pulse looks like the better-value option on paper, given its $99.99 US price. We’ll update this story if PlayStation announces dates or AED, SAR or EGP pricing for the region.
Will the PlayStation Pulse launch in the UAE, Saudi Arabia or Egypt?
Sony hasn’t said. None of the three is on the November 19 launch list, and the company says release dates for additional countries will be announced later.
How much is the PlayStation Pulse wireless headset?
The recommended retail price is $99.99, £89.99, €99.99 or ¥15,980. Sony hasn’t announced pricing for the Middle East, and the Pulse Edge has no price yet.
Does the Pulse work with anything other than the PS5?
Yes. Sony says PlayStation Link lets both new headsets switch between PS5, PlayStation Portal, PC and Mac, and they can also connect to supported Bluetooth devices at the same time.
