OPPO Reno16 F UAE: 7,000mAh and a 3.5x Telephoto for AED 1,799

The OPPO Reno16 F 5G is the cheapest way into the Reno16 series in the UAE — AED 1,799 for 8GB + 256GB, or AED 2,099 if you want 12GB of RAM. It’s also the model with the biggest battery, at up to 7,000mAh, and it keeps the two cameras that make the series interesting. There is a catch, and it’s in the ultra-wide.

Pre-orders run from 31 July to 6 August 2026 and include an OPPO Magnetic Case, OPPO Enco Buds3 Pro, 12 months of screen protection and a 12-month extended warranty — a package OPPO values at AED 699. Buyers also get three months of Google AI Pro with Gemini Pro access and 5TB of storage, and the 7 to 16 August trade-in promotion adds up to AED 200 on top of a device’s evaluated value.

The AED 300 gap between the two configurations buys 4GB of extra RAM and nothing else. At AED 1,799 the base model is the sharper buy; 8GB is enough for ColorOS 16 unless you keep a dozen apps resident.

The 7,000mAh battery is the reason to buy it

Up to 7,000mAh (6,850mAh rated) is a big cell by any standard, and the F pairs it with the least demanding hardware in the series: a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Energy and a 1080p display. That combination should make it the longest-lasting phone of the three by a clear margin — genuinely two days for moderate use, and a real advantage during a Gulf summer when heat eats into battery performance.

Charging is better than expected. OPPO ships the Reno16 F with either 80W or 45W SUPERVOOC depending on market, and the UAE gets the 80W version — its own UAE spec sheet lists 80W SUPERVOOC as the maximum, with 55W PPS and 13.5W PD compatibility. Display and build: bigger, and slightly tougher

The F is the outlier in the series on size. Where the Reno16 and Reno16 Pro are compact 6.32-inch phones, the F stretches to a 6.57-inch AMOLED at 2372 x 1080 and 120Hz. It’s lower resolution and less bright than its siblings, but it’s a big, comfortable panel for video.

Two small wins: its Crystal Guard cover glass is rated to Mohs level 5 against level 4 on the Pro, so it should resist scratches slightly better, and it carries the same IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings as the rest of the range, along with Splash Touch and Glove Touch. In Pop White the F uses transparent injection moulding rather than the one-piece cold-sculpted back cover the other models use — same design language, different construction.

Cameras: the telephoto stays, the ultra-wide doesn’t

The Reno16 F keeps the 50MP main camera with OIS, the 50MP 3.5x optical telephoto and the 50MP 100-degree ultra-wide selfie camera. Having a real optical telephoto on an AED 1,799 phone is unusual and worth a lot in daily use — most phones at this price crop digitally and call it zoom.

The compromise is the ultra-wide: 8MP, against 50MP on the Reno16 and Reno16 Pro. In daylight it’s serviceable. One small spec the pricier models don’t have: the Reno16 F supports a microSD card, where the Reno16 and Reno16 Pro don’t. It also uses LPDDR4X memory rather than the LPDDR5X in its siblings, which is part of how the price comes down.

How it compares under AED 2,000 in the UAE

The Reno16 F is the most expensive of that group, and the OnePlus 13R will beat it comfortably on raw performance thanks to its former-flagship Snapdragon. What the F offers instead is the biggest battery in the class, an optical telephoto, that 50MP selfie camera and IP69K durability. Software, updates and who this phone is for

The Reno16 F runs ColorOS 16 on Android 16 and gets the same AI feature set as the rest of the series: the AI Snap Key shortcut into AI Mind Space, AI Bill Manager for turning receipts and payment notifications into spending records, AI Mind Pilot for routing questions between AI models, and AI Menu Translation for working out what’s on a foreign menu. None of that is reserved for the Pro, which is unusual and welcome at this price.

OPPO’s update commitment for the F has been quoted as up to five years of software updates and six years of security patches, which would be class-leading if it holds for the GCC variant — worth confirming with the retailer, as regional update policies sometimes differ from global announcements.

The buyer this phone suits is easy to picture: someone who wants a phone that lasts two days, films or photographs themselves regularly, occasionally wants to zoom in on something properly rather than crop, and would rather spend AED 1,799 than AED 3,299. If that’s you, the ultra-wide compromise is a fair price to pay. If you’re a heavy mobile gamer, the Dimensity 7300 Energy is the wrong chip and you should be looking at the Pro or at a discounted flagship instead.

Should you buy the Reno16 F?

Buy it if you want the longest battery life in the series and the same telephoto and selfie hardware as its pricier siblings for AED 1,500 less than the Pro.
