LG maps 7 tech trends for IFA 2025- AI, smart homes, XR
TL;DR
  • AI shifts to practical gains with ThinQ ON and AI Home Solution.
  • Smart home platforms add upgrades, care and flexible subscriptions.
  • aming and XR expand with cloud services and fast OLED monitors.

LG has laid out technology trends it expects to define IFA Berlin 2025: practical AI, smarter home ecosystems, sustainability, immersive gaming and XR, connected mobility, helpful robots and appliance subscriptions. The company will showcase new products and concepts in Hall 18 at Messe Berlin from September 5 to 9, 2025.

AI gets practical

AI is moving from hype to useful features across appliances and services. LG’s AI Home Solution and ThinQ ON hub sit at the centre, aiming for natural interactions and faster, on-device decisions.

  • Context-aware assistants that understand routines
  • More edge AI to keep data private and responsive
  • AI Wash and AI Dry to optimise cycles and energy

LG says its IFA booth focuses on everyday AI that is easy to use, not just demos. ThinQ ON is pitched as the home hub for LG devices and third-party platforms, while AI Wash features on new laundry kits to save water and power. For UAE homes, where AC already dominates electricity use, any extra efficiency from appliances helps trim DEWA bills.

The intuitive home: ecosystems and subscriptions

Smart homes are shifting from “connected” to “proactive.” ThinQ UP and ThinQ Care bring software upgrades and predictive maintenance so appliances age better. Subscriptions add flexible access with service-style ownership.

  • ThinQ UP: feature updates via software
  • ThinQ Care: health checks, alerts, fixes
  • Subscriptions: pay monthly, better reuse of products

For many UAE households, long leases and frequent moves make flexible models attractive. Proactive care can also reduce surprise service calls. LG’s shift here mirrors a broader effort to extend product lifecycles, which is beneficial for both wallets and the environment.

Sustainability by design

Sustainability remains core: efficient heat pumps, microplastic-reducing washing cycles, and improved resource use. Less waste, smarter energy.

  • Heat pump tech to cut electricity use
  • Microplastic Care cycle for laundry
  • Design for repair and reuse
  • UAE angle: lower energy use during peak summer tariffs

LG’s 2025 laundry lineup highlights the Microplastic Care cycle, which the company says reduces microplastic release from synthetic fabrics, paired with AI motion to keep efficiency high. For the Gulf, where washing frequency can spike in dusty months, that means savings and cleaner outcomes.

Immersive entertainment: gaming, cloud and XR

Cloud gaming is mainstreaming. Generative AI is shaping reactive worlds. Spatial computing and XR move into learning and work, backed by lighter hardware and better displays. LG’s display know-how keeps it in the mix.

  • Cloud gaming across TVs and monitors
  • XR for training, productivity and media
  • Faster OLED gaming monitors for low latency

We’re already seeing the local pieces fall into place: 480 Hz OLED gaming monitors in UAE stores and strong fibre plans for cloud gaming. Expect IFA demos to show how TVs, monitors and accessories bring these services to living rooms and gaming rooms in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Mobility and robots: help in motion and at home

Cars are becoming extensions of the home. LG and Kia’s Spielraum concept brings appliances and mood lighting into a mobile space. Robots are getting cheaper and more useful, from multi-surface cleaners to companions that can read the room better.

  • EVs with AI assistants and richer infotainment
  • Concept interiors with fridges, coffee, TV and soundbar
  • Cleaning robots that handle more surfaces and tasks

LG’s mobility work leans on its appliance and display strengths. The Spielraum collaboration with Kia previews how cabins might feel like mini studios or lounges. On the home front, expect more capable vacuums and service robots tuned for daily chores.
