Lenovo and Motorola Unveil Qira: The Cross-Device AI That Wants to Be More Than an Assistant

Lenovo and Motorola unveiled Qira, an ambient, cross-device AI, at CES 2026. Discover how this new intelligence aims to redefine personal tech in the UAE, with rollouts starting Q1 2026.

Lenovo and Motorola Unveil Qira: The Cross-Device AI That Wants to Be More Than an Assistant

Dubai, UAE – At CES 2026, Lenovo announced a new step in personal AI: Lenovo Qira and Motorola Qira. This isn't just another voice assistant or chatbot; it's a system-level intelligence designed to work across all your compatible devices, aiming to anticipate your needs rather than just waiting for commands.

Lenovo Qira, as it will appear on Lenovo devices, and Motorola Qira, for Motorola smartphones, represents a move towards what the company calls 'Personal Ambient Intelligence.' According to Dan Dery, VP of AI Ecosystem in Lenovo's Intelligent Devices Group, the goal is to make AI feel like a natural part of your daily tech use, supporting you continuously.

What is Lenovo Qira?

Lenovo Qira is a cross-device, built-in intelligence that aims to understand context and assist users seamlessly. Unlike traditional app-based AI, Qira is integrated at the system level, meaning it's always available across your devices without needing to open a specific application.

This ambient approach means the AI is designed to learn your intentions and patterns over time, proactively offering suggestions and performing actions based on what you're doing. It seeks to provide a consistent experience whether you're using a PC, tablet, smartphone, or wearable, adapting to how and when you prefer to engage.

The Three Pillars of Qira: Presence, Actions, Perception

Lenovo Qira is built around three core attributes that differentiate it from standard AI assistants.

  • Presence: Qira is integrated at the system level with multiple natural entry points, ensuring a consistent experience across all your devices. Users can invoke it by saying "Hey, Qira," pressing a dedicated key, or tapping a persistent on-screen pill. It can proactively offer suggestions or remain in the background until called upon.
  • Actions: This AI can act on your behalf using device capabilities and local AI processing, even offline. It coordinates actions across apps and devices, allowing it to move tasks forward without requiring manual management of every step.
  • Perception: Qira builds a fused knowledge base from user-selected interactions, memories, and documents across devices, always with user privacy and consent. Through cross-device sensing, it develops a living model of your world, understanding context and personal patterns over time.

These attributes aim to make the AI less of a tool and more of a proactive partner, constantly learning and adapting to your digital habits.

Real-World Experiences Designed With You in Mind

Lenovo Qira introduces several core experiences tailored to everyday user needs.

  • Next Move: Qira offers proactive, contextual suggestions based on your current activity, with continuity across devices. It helps users move forward with tasks by suggesting relevant next actions.
  • Write For Me: Whether for emails, documents, messages, or notes, Qira assists with writing directly within your current application. It adapts to your tone and intent, helping to generate text without requiring you to switch apps or start from scratch.
  • Live Interaction: This feature enables real-time, multimodal interaction while you're sharing your screen or camera. Qira remains attentive to what you say and show, fostering more fluid and conversational AI collaboration.
  • Catch Me Up: If you step away from a task, Qira can summarise what happened while you were away, highlighting important points to help you regain clarity and confidence upon return.
  • Pay Attention: Qira can support meetings and conversations with real-time transcriptions and translations (when enabled), capturing key points and creating summaries that can be revisited instantly.

Beyond these, more focused AI experiences like 'Creator Zone' help users edit visuals and photos with enhanced control and fewer distractions, particularly useful for those in creative fields.

Privacy & Partnerships: What You Need to Know

Lenovo Qira is designed with privacy as a core principle. Its hybrid AI architecture prioritizes on-device processing to keep personal data local, complementing this with secure cloud services for extended capabilities. This approach is intended to ensure user control and strong data protection.

The system is also powered by a growing ecosystem of industry partners, bringing specialized intelligence while maintaining a consistent user experience. Key collaborations include:

  • Microsoft: Utilizing its AI stack through Windows Foundry and Microsoft Azure for secure local-to-cloud capabilities across Windows PCs, tablets, and smartphones.
  • Stability AI: Integrated into 'Creator Zone' on PCs, enabling private, unlimited on-device text-to-image creation using Stable Diffusion 3.5 Flash models.
  • Notion: Allows Qira users to securely search and reason over their Notion workspaces, bringing documents and plans into context for a fused personal knowledge base.
  • Perplexity: Adds the ability to dive deeper into topics with well-sourced answers and guided follow-ups, aiming to enhance contextual understanding without switching apps.
  • Expedia Group: Expedia and Vrbo brands enable Qira to surface relevant travel inventory based on user intent, with seamless handoffs for booking.

Pricing and Availability (UAE)

As Lenovo Qira is a system-level intelligence rather than a standalone product, there is no separate purchase price. It will be integrated into compatible Lenovo and Motorola devices.

Lenovo Qira is set to begin rolling out on select Lenovo devices in Q1 2026. This will be followed by an expansion to supported Motorola smartphones. Existing users of 'Lenovo AI Now' will receive seamless over-the-air upgrades to the Qira experience. Broader expansion to more devices is expected over time.

UAE pricing and specific device availability for new Lenovo and Motorola devices featuring Qira will be confirmed closer to their respective launch dates in the region.
