Kit Harington does not think Marvel currently has plans for him to return as Dane Whitman, the character better known as Black Knight, despite saying he would like to reprise the role. IGN reported the update after the actor spoke to MovieWeb.
The actor joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2021’s Eternals. Its post-credits scene showed Dane opening a box containing the Ebony Blade before an off-screen voice asked if he was ready. The voice belonged to Mahershala Ali’s Blade, setting up a storyline that has not moved beyond that tease.

Speaking to MovieWeb, Harington said he had not received an invitation to return to the Marvel universe.
“I’d love to [return],” Harington began. “I don’t think there’s any plan to. I hate to break it to you. “I think he’s a wicked character,” he continued. “There’s a part of him, that whole Ebony Blade stuff, where the more he kills the worse he gets, the more addicted. I think he’s such a great parable of addiction. I think he’s someone who starts good and goes bad. But we’ll see, I don’t know if there’s any plan.

Harington added that he still likes the character’s direction, particularly the Ebony Blade’s effect on Dane. “I think he’s someone who starts good and goes bad,” he said.
The update follows Marvel president Kevin Feige saying in 2022 that there were no immediate plans for an Eternals sequel. Yahoo’s report also notes that the wider cast has not returned in another Marvel film since the 2021 release.
What happens to Black Knight in the MCU?
There is no confirmed Black Knight project or announced Eternals 2. Marvel’s next announced films include Avengers: Doomsday in December 2026 and Avengers: Secret Wars in December 2027, but Harington’s return has not been confirmed for either film.
