Finding a reliable workhorse for your business just got a potentially interesting new option. Al Ghurair Mobility has confirmed it is bringing Chery’s global commercial vehicle brand, Karry, to the United Arab Emirates.
According to the announcement from Al Ghurair Mobility and Chery Group, the new exclusive distribution agreement will see a range of light commercial vehicles (LCVs), including vans and mini trucks, arrive in UAE showrooms. While specific release dates and pricing are yet to be revealed, the move targets the country’s heavy demand for logistics and last-mile delivery solutions.
This isn’t Al Ghurair’s first venture with the Chinese automotive giant. The company already partners with Chery to distribute the RELY pickup brand in the UAE. Adding Karry to the portfolio suggests a push to corner more of the commercial sector, from independent SMEs to larger fleet operators.
What is Karry?
For those unfamiliar with the name, Karry is the commercial arm of Chery Group. While Chery’s passenger cars are becoming a common sight on Sheikh Zayed Road, Karry focuses purely on utility. The brand specialises in practical mobility solutions designed for urban logistics, construction, and transport.
"Karry brings a compelling proposition to the UAE’s commercial vehicle landscape," said Oscar Rivoli, CEO of Motors at Al Ghurair Mobility. He noted that the range is "purpose-built for real-world business use, with a strong focus on reliability, efficiency and total cost of ownership."
The UAE context
The timing makes sense. The UAE’s logistics and e-commerce sectors have remained robust, creating consistent demand for efficient delivery vehicles. Current options in the market range from established Japanese staples to a growing number of Chinese competitors offering high value.
Al Ghurair seems to be positioning Karry as a value-driven alternative for businesses watching their bottom line. "Together with RELY, Karry allows us to address a broader spectrum of commercial mobility requirements across fleets, SMEs and specialised operators," Rivoli added.
What we don't know yet
While the partnership is official, details on the specific model lineup for the UAE remain under wraps. Globally, Karry produces a mix of electric and petrol commercial vehicles, including the Dolphin EV van and various mini-truck configurations. Given the UAE’s push towards green mobility, it will be interesting to see if Al Ghurair brings the electric variants here to compete with the likes of the Ford E-Transit or other electric LCVs.
We also don’t have confirmed pricing or warranty details yet. In this segment, total cost of ownership—including service contracts and parts availability—is usually the deciding factor for fleet buyers. We expect to learn more about the local specs and prices in the coming months.
