Insta360 X6 vs X5 comes down to AED 2,699 against street prices of AED 1,560 to AED 1,899. The X6 wins every line of the spec sheet; the X5 is the one on sale. The gap is roughly AED 800 to AED 1,140, and whether the premium is worth paying depends on how the camera will be used.

What the extra money buys

The X6’s sensors are 33% larger, with roughly four times the light intake per frame. That shows up where 360 cameras traditionally struggle: low light, night rides and indoor scenes.

Recording tops out at 8K50fps against the X5’s 8K30fps, and stills jump from 72MP to 120MP. Battery life goes from 88 minutes of 8K30 to 140 minutes, with an 80% charge in 24 minutes. The X6 is waterproof to 20 metres rather than 15, carries 47GB of built-in storage (the X5 needs a microSD card from day one) and records 10-bit Dolby Vision colour.

The X6 also edits: PanoMind builds a highlight edit on the camera while it charges, where the X5’s AI is limited to the PureVideo low-light pipeline and the original InstaFrame.

Where the X5 still makes sense

The official store lists the Insta360 X5 at AED 2,169, but its Essentials, Starter, Motorcycle and Cycling bundles are all sold out. Amazon.ae still has stock from AED 1,560 for the standalone camera. An X5 at that price is a different purchase from an X6 at AED 2,699 — the difference covers a lot of accessories.

The two cameras share the magnetic mounting system and the invisible selfie sticks, so an existing X5 kit carries over. And 8K30fps is still 8K: for travel, walking tours and casual vlogging, the X5’s footage is not suddenly unwatchable. The X6’s gains concentrate in low light, fast motion, photo resolution and battery life.

Which one should you buy?

New buyers on a budget should take the X5 at street price and spend the difference on accessories. New buyers who want the current flagship should take the X6 Standard Bundle — the Essentials Bundle’s second battery and selfie stick are the extras that justify themselves on a long shoot.

X5 owners should upgrade when their current camera’s limits are the problem. If low light, battery life or photo resolution have cost shots, the X6 fixes all three at once. If the X5 still does what it is asked to do, it will keep doing it for another year.

The comparison season is unusually busy: DJI’s rival Osmo 360 II was expected the day after the X6 launch, so buyers weighing a 360 camera this month have two flagships to price up. Is the Insta360 X6 worth upgrading to from the X5?

The X6 fixes the X5’s main limits: low-light quality, battery life (140 minutes against 88), photo resolution (120MP against 72MP) and built-in storage. If any of those have cost you shots, the upgrade is justified; otherwise the X5 still holds up.

What are the differences between the Insta360 X6 and X5?

The X6 has 1-inch-class sensors with 33% more area, 8K50fps against 8K30fps video, 120MP against 72MP photos, 20m against 15m waterproofing, 47GB of built-in storage and 10-bit Dolby Vision colour. The X5 keeps the same mounting system and sells for hundreds less.

How much does the Insta360 X6 cost compared with the X5 in the UAE?

The X6 Standard Bundle is AED 2,699 and the Essentials Bundle is AED 3,099. The X5 sells for AED 2,169 at the official store and from AED 1,560 on Amazon.ae, so the upgrade costs roughly AED 800 to AED 1,140.

Is the Insta360 X5 still worth buying in 2026?

At street prices from AED 1,560, yes. It records 8K30fps 360 video, shares the X6’s mounts and accessories, and leaves roughly AED 1,000 over the X6 for a selfie stick, spare battery and memory cards.
