Insta360 has announced Wave, a professional speakerphone that records locally, cleans up your audio with AI, then hands the notes to a meeting assistant called InSight. It ships from 25 September 2025 and starts at US$326 in the UAE.
What is Insta360 Wave?
Wave is a tabletop speakerphone with an 8-microphone 3D array, a 1.82-inch touchscreen and a tidy “levitating” design. The pitch is simple: clear voice pickup, touch controls, and searchable recordings through Insta360’s InSight AI.
- 8 mics capture voices up to 5 m away at 48 kHz
- AI removes background noise, echo and reverb
- One-tap local recording with 32 GB on board
- Touchscreen for mute, volume and record
- Ships alongside Insta360 InSight AI assistant
Wave aims to replace a separate mic, recorder and software stack for teams who live on Zoom, Meet or Teams, plus podcasters and lecturers who want searchable notes after the call. Insta360 is also pushing a clean hardware experience: tap to record, tag moments, and swipe to upload to cloud if you use InSight. For those following the brand’s ecosystem, it sits alongside other tools like the Insta360 GO Ultra and Insta360 Flow 2.
Audio hardware and beamforming modes
Wave’s audio chain leans on both hardware and algorithms. The 8 MEMS mics feed an AI pipeline for noise, gain and echo control. Full-duplex keeps two-way chatter natural. You also get adaptive beamforming with five pickup patterns you normally see on studio gear.
- Patterns: omni, cardioid, supercardioid, figure-8, stereo
- AI features: noise reduction, AGC, echo cancellation, dereverberation
- Voice pickup: up to 5 m (16.4 ft)
- Output: 5 W driver, up to 91 dB SPL
- Sampling: 48 kHz voice capture
In practice, this set should handle messy meeting rooms and open offices. Switch to cardioid for focused calls, supercardioid in noisy spaces, or stereo for content like ASMR or music demos. Full-duplex plus AGC and AEC should also reduce the “you go, no you go” audio collisions that plague cheap speakerphones.
Recording, storage and controls
Wave is a standalone recorder. Hit the touch display and it starts logging your meeting locally. There’s 32 GB built in, with tagging and mute control on the device. Insta360 also calls out a future AI pre-recording mode that captures the five minutes before you press record.
- 32 GB local storage for up to 1,000 hours of audio
- One-tap record, tagging and mute
- Planned AI pre-recording: last 5 minutes buffer
- Battery: 9,800 mAh, up to 12 hours talk time
- Connections: USB, Bluetooth, dongle; 3-device wireless cascade via OTA update
This is useful for interviews and boardrooms where someone always says the key line before anyone remembers to hit record. Battery is sized for long days, and the cascade update should help larger rooms later. Accessories include a Y-cable for charge + data and a table mount.
InSight: the AI meeting assistant that ships with Wave
InSight is the other half of the story. It transcribes in 99 languages, labels speakers, builds glossaries, summarises meetings and can answer questions linked to timestamps. Early Wave buyers get the InSight Basic plan with 300 minutes per month; Pro lifts that to 1,200 minutes and adds deeper templates and industry glossaries.
- Transcription in 99 languages with speaker IDs
- Smart summaries, action items and searchable Q&A
- Basic plan free for early buyers
- Pro plan: US$99.99/year or US$17.99/month
- Unlimited cloud storage for recordings in the ecosystem
You can also opt to use AI chat features that tap large language models, with answers linked back to exact moments in the audio. For teams in the UAE juggling Arabic and English, the language coverage and terminology glossaries should help with local names and acronyms. It’s a similar pitch to other regional tools like Intella’s Arabic voice AI and even smartphone features such as HONOR’s Magic V5 AI call translation.
Works with Link 2 and ships with a video intro
If you already use Insta360’s Link 2 webcam, Wave pairs up. Direction-of-arrival detection lets Link 2 switch focus between speakers without wires, so you get simple speaker tracking in multi-person calls. There’s also an official launch video if you want a quick look at the UI.
For availability, Insta360 says Wave is on sale globally from 25 September 2025 via the Insta360 Store, Amazon and other retailers. The UAE price is US$326.
What makes Insta360 Wave different from standard speakerphones?
The combination of an 8-mic array, on-device recording, five beamforming patterns and a native AI assistant for transcription and summaries. Most speakerphones stop at echo cancellation and a mute button; Wave is designed to capture, organise and search your conversations.
Does Wave work for hybrid rooms or larger spaces?
Yes. Pickup range is up to 5 m per unit and Insta360 plans a wireless cascade of three devices via a future firmware update. That gives more coverage without rewiring the room.
What does the free InSight Basic plan include?
Early Wave buyers get 300 minutes of transcription per month plus storage and standard templates. You can upgrade to the Pro plan for 1,200 minutes and extra AI tools. Pricing is US$99.99/year or US$17.99/month.
