HBO has cast Rafe Spall as Arthur Weasley, Molly Hewitt-Richards as Moaning Myrtle and Jasper Ambrose as Colin Creevey in Season 2 of its Harry Potter TV series. The three actors join a growing ensemble for the adaptation of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
The cast of Harry Potter TV series adds three more names
Spall takes over the recurring role of Arthur, the Ministry of Magic employee and father of Ron Weasley. Mark Williams played the character in the original films. Spall’s recent credits include Trying, Life of Pi, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Black Mirror.
Hewitt-Richards will play Moaning Myrtle, the ghost who haunts the second-floor girls’ bathroom at Hogwarts. Shirley Henderson played Myrtle in the films. Ambrose joins as Colin Creevey, the young Gryffindor student who is rarely seen without his camera and an interest in Harry Potter.
What to expect from Harry Potter Season 2
The three new cast members join Kit Harington as Gilderoy Lockhart, Bonnie Hill as Ginny Weasley, Lenny Rush as Dobby and Billy Barratt as Tom Riddle. The returning cast includes Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.
The cast of Harry Potter TV series now reaches beyond the central trio, with filming underway at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the UK. Season 1, based on Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, is due to debut at Christmas 2026. Season 2 is expected to follow in late 2027 or 2028.

The new announcement follows earlier Harry Potter HBO casting news about Dobby and young Voldemort and the casting of Kit Harington as Gilderoy Lockhart. HBO’s series is being produced as a book-by-book adaptation, so even the characters who were briefly squeezed into the films are getting their turn. Hogwarts has room, apparently.
