The GTA 6 map is three times bigger than the playable area of Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar confirmed in an interview with the New York Times. It returns the series to Vice City, Rockstar’s Miami stand-in, and the ground around it.

How big is the GTA 6 map?
The figure comes from the same GameSpot report of the Times piece, which sat down with Rockstar’s developers. “The overall map, the studio said, is three times as large as the playable area of its previous game, Red Dead Redemption 2.” The report also counted well over 600,000 animations — against 55,000 in GTA 5 and 300,000 in Red Dead Redemption 2.
“Every room in the game, somebody thought about this,” Rockstar North head Aaron Garbut told the Times. “Who’s sitting where, what they’re drinking, the marks that are left on the table. The pictures on the wall will have the people that are in that room.”
